SAINT BENIN’S

You may have noticed that we are carrying out a major refurbishment of the Presbytery, St Benin’s, which is situated on the Dublin Road, just in front of the church. The house was in a very bad state of repair. After consultation with the Diocesan authorities and with members of the parish community it was decided to undertake the work.

For sometime now the priests of the parish have been living in two separate houses, St Benin’s and 9 Seaview Lawn. Since we are members of a Religious Congregation, the Pallottine Fathers, and one of our charisms is community life, I always felt that we should live together. When the work on St. Benin’s is completed we will be able to do so. The Dioceses advises, that at that stage, the house in Seaview Lawn should be sold.

While this is a very big undertaking, I feel that it will be a great benefit to all of us. For the moment,  I am available at 2720894.

Fr John

PLANNED GIVING / ENVELOPE COLLECTION

See the parish Newsletter for bank standing order form which can be left into the parish office in the Resource Centre.

If you normally just put your offering into the collection basket, would you consider putting it into the provided envelope instead?  Just take a box of envelopes from the back of the Church, and sign your name and address on the list against the number on the box.  All details are completely confidential and known only to you and the Parish Secretary; but it does mean that at the end of the year, if you wish to claim tax to benefit the parish on your donations, there will be a record of your donations available to the Revenue Commissioners.  Please consider donating in this way or by Banker's Order.

EVEN A LITTLE EVERY WEEK AMOUNTS TO A LOT OF HELP.

MOTHERS WANTED

The search is on for experienced mothers who would like to help new parents gain confidence in looking after their babies.

The Community Mothers Programme is a volunteer Parent Support Programme, which trains and supports local experienced mums, who then carry out monthly home visits to new parents in their own homes. The visits focus on babies' overall development, child stimulation, health and nutrition, and aim to increase parents' enjoyment of their children.

If you are a good listener, sensitive to other mothers' needs, and would like to make a positive difference to the community, please contact the Family Development Nurse, Trióna Lucey, at Loughlinstown Health Centre. Tel: 2822122.
