Episcopal Ordination of Mgr. Séamus Freeman, as Bishop of Ossory 

The Coat of Arms of the new Bishop of Ossory.  

          The coat of arms comprises of a comet symbolising the announcement of the Birth of Christ through the ages.  This image is also part of the arms of the Pallottine Fathers of which Mgr Freeman is a member.  In the second part is a bell: representing the ancient tradition of St Kieran who received a bell from St Patrick and built a church in Seir Kieran where it rang.  The final image on the coat of arms is that of a bible and the phrase PROCLAIM THE WORD

          The motto of Bishop Freeman is LIBERTAS IN VERITATE.  This motto reflects the words of Jesus in the Gospel of St John (8:32) emphasising that only knowledge of the truth will set us free.
