St. Attracta’s N.S. Awarded Green Flag
In February of this year we received the news that our two years of hard work had paid off….we were awarded the Green Flag for working for the environment. We had introduced a policy in the school of reducing, reusing and recycling. Under the guidence of Teacher Ms. Marcella Mohan, a committee was formed and a list of targets was set. It took a lot of work and we are all delighted with the result.
In February, Ms. Mohan and two of the committee went to Dublin to the award ceremony. The children picked to go were Harry and Heather. It took place in the offices of An Taisce. The Green Flag was presented by Enda Kenny TD. Also present were Eanna Ní Lamnhna, President of An Taisce, Pat Collins, Chairperson of An Taisce, Sharon Cammeron amd Mary Forde, Mayo County Council and a representative from Greenstar, who sponsor the Green Schools programme.
A great day was had by all and we are all looking forward to the green flag ceremony. Well done to all!!!
