Football 2006
On March 22 nd 2006, our boys’ mini sevens team travelled to McHale Park to contest the quarter -final of the county mini-sevens. Earlier in the month we had won the East Mayo area final. Our opponents in the quarter final were Richmond/Keenagh National Schools. Things looked good at half time when our lads edged in front but a late revival by the opposition was just enough to beat us. Had there been more time our boys could have done it. Well done to all involved.
Micheal Mullen In Our School
A few days ago, a writer visited our school. His name was Micheal Mullen, he was really interesting to listen to. He had some funny jokes up his sleeve, it was very enjoyable for a young child to listen to if he/she wanted to be a writer. Although he stayed for an hour it seemed about 20 minutes. Also, he was very determined to write stories and still teach children in a school, he would go to school, come home and write a bit more of his book. He has being writing since he was 14 and still writing, he has excellent imagination to think of all the names for his books and the people in his books. 'Magus the Lollipop Man' was his first book to be published, it sold a lot and lot of copies. That was the first book from Micheal Mullen I had ever read and it was worth it every bit. Out of all the book's he wrote he had no favourite. He was a great observer of people, because if he was driving around and saw some-thing unusual he would just click his fingers and say 'I've got a story' then he would jot it down on a notebook, go home and write himself a story. Even though he was a writer he had a lot of difficulty spelling, but may be he wasn't a great speller when he was young. He was very brave to keep writing after his wife had cancer, but she is alright now. He was honest to tell the truth about his wife having cancer. Some writers might not even say anything about their families and friends.
