Intermediate Hurling Championship

We play our second game in the above competition on Saturday evening last. The match was played in Robinstown with Crookedwood providing the opposition. Unfortunately we again suffered a defeat despite each player giving their all. While we are still in contention for the championship games are running out and it is vital that we win our next few matches if we are going to be involved in the knockout stages.

Fe 12

We played two matches in the Fe 12 league during the past fortnight. In the first march we played St. Oliver Plunketts in Robinstown. After a very competitive game we emerged victorious. The team was as follows Niall Brady, Ronan Flanagan, Damien Moran, Enda McCabe. Aiden Fallon, Dara Coyne, Sean Deegan, Daniel Crombie, Francis Nally, Jason Feery, Cathal Coyne, Conor Slevin, Christopher Coyne, Kevin Morgan, Brendan Keegan.

On Friday last in Rochfortbridge we played Turin. Again this proved to be a very entertaining game with the result in the balance up until the final whistle with us eventually emerging as winners. The team and fir ionad used were as follows, Niall Brady, Ronan Flanagan, Damien Moran, Stephen Quinn, Enda McCabe, Aiden Fallon, Sean Deegan, Francis Nally, Daniel Crombie, Connor Slevin, Kevin Morgan, Jason Feery, Ben Gavin, Brendan Keegan, Christopher Coyne, Billy Maher, Shane Newman, Ciaran Daly, Niamh McEntegart.

This is now a very settled team with each member improving by the game helped in no small way by the excellent coaching of Nollaig McEntegart. In addition a number of this team are receiving coaching each Saturday morning in Robinstown in a scheme sponsored by the Westmeath Hurling Supporters Club. On behalf of the club I wish to compliment the team on their commitment and discipline both at matches and training.

We would again like to thank the parents for their support and interest in providing transport and backup for both matches and training. On a final note we have to compliment our Chairman Paul Deegan who has refereed five of our six matches and was fairness personified, underlined by the fact he never once was criticized for his handling of the games.

Student Summer Scheme.

We have three vacancies for students who wish to work for the club under the above scheme. To be eligible a person has to be a student returning to college this Autumn. More details are available from our runai Nollaig McEntegart tel. 044-23500.

Dalystown National School Centenary.

Finally the club sends its best wishes to the organising committee and all involved with the Dalystown School Centenary celebrations which are to be held on Saturday. Hopefully all goes well for them and that they are the success they deserve to be.
