The Aztecs
The Aztecs were an American Indian people who ruled a mighty  empire in Mexico during
the 1400 & 1500's. 
They built cities as large as any in europe at that time. 
They also practiced a remarkable religion that effected every part of their lives. 
To worship their gods they built huge temples. 
One of their godessess was coatlicue she wears a necklace made of human hands hearts & a skull. 
The godess was beheaded and there are snakes coming out of her neck which represent blood streaming out of
nher neck. 
The Aztec calender was used in ceremonies honouring the sun god TONATIUH,
His face is in the center of the stone & other carvings represent the universe.
The spanish conquest in 1521 destroyed the aztec empire.

The Aztecs were a mexican tribe.
There was a city in the centre of Mexico called Tencontitlan where they lived. 
They lived over 500 years ago 
The population was 300,000 people. 
There was an Emperor called montezuma II. 
Their religon was to worship the gods in the gods in the temple.
There was at least one human killed each day.
The priests would sacrifice the humans. 
The priests had 4 tasks which were 
A:	Train to treat the sick people.
B: 	Sacrifices human hearts.
C:	They started a fire by ratating a stick on wood
D:	Priest observed the plant sand and stars

They ate fish, turkey, rabbit, and dogs and corn pancakes.
They drank cloclate made of cacao beans. 
In 1519 the Spaniards came. The Spaniards killed all the Aztecs.
