On
the 31st of January and the 1st of February two
Australians came all the way to Cork to teach us about the wide world of
dinosaurs. During their visit we learned a lot. We had to take an oath, which went
a little like this: “We promise to respect the oath or else I will eat a
dinosaurs poop”.
Here
are some facts about dinosaurs:
§
A
T-Rex’s anklebone has the same pattern as that of a sheep.
§
The
name given to people who study dinosaurs is palaeontologist.
§
There
are three types of dinosaurs.
a)
Carnivores,
dinosaurs that eat meat.
b)
Herbivores,
vegetarian dinosaurs.
c)
Omnivorous,
which eat both.
We
saw footprints of different dinosaurs. We were blown away by the size of the
T-rex’s footprint. It would take us an average of 11 footsteps to catch up with
one of his. There were lots of fossils and even one unhatched Dinosaur egg that
was 90 million years old! No one knows for definite how Dinosaurs became
extinct but there are four popular theories,
1.
A
comet hit the earth and blocked out the sun, which in turn killed all
Dinosaurs.
2.
When flowers started to grow it upset the
balance of nature.
3.
Mammals began eating the eggs.
4.
The
climate got too hot.
At the end we went outside where they had a
life-size replica of a T-Rex. It towered above us. All and all we really enjoyed the show!
