Qualities Overview of Brother Rice. |

Brother Rice managed to achieve all he did primarily because he was what is called a leader. Being a leader is to have actions carried out. He was able to make things happen with and for others. How can this be all summarised? 1) He was a successful business man; 2) He started the Congregation of Christian Brothers. 3) He served in prisons, especially for those who were condemned to death. 4) He gave Religious Instruction i) At his own home, ii) In Jervis Street Hospital, iii) In the Mendicity Asylum and iv) In Schools. 5) He was a teacher. 6) He started Charitable Institutions. 7) He gave Charity in money, food and clothing. 8) He comforted the dying. 9) He submitted to Religious Authority. Four of these topics will be addressed in greater detail to illustrate more fully some aspects of the man: a) His Business and Legal Qualities briefly, b) His personal qualities in relation to his religious practices and his powers, c) An example of his Charity, and d) His qualities applied to Education. |
