The New Arrival

 The Prefab

The gravel's scattered down

All around the ground

To make room for the

Prefab to sit on.

The crane comes along

Its chain so strong

To put the prefab in place.

The straps get ready

To lift it steady

So it doesn't fall on the ground

The crane's hook so high

Up there in the sky

Puts the prefab in place

Like a flash of lightning

The prefab's down

Soon a class will be in it

At the side of our playground

Aisling Sixth Class

The Prefab

Down goes the gravel

A massive mosaic

Lava lying everywhere

A square shaped cake

The crane comes

Getting ready to grab,

To set in place

The prefab.

Here we are

Another classroom

All finished and ready

For third class

Laura - Sixth Class

The Box

As the rectangular box is hauled in

Rain falling and wind blowing

Children gasp at the sight

The crane creaks and bashes off the ground

Lands on the chalky white surface

Upon the playground Foyle view

Connie - Sixth Class

Moving In

Chalky grey stones

Flat and smooth

A long necked dinosaur

Brought the prefab

To our ground.

Ropes carry it

And now it

Sits there on

The grassland.

Shakira - Sixth Class

Getting Ready for the New Classroom

Lots of machinery around the school

Diggers, dumpers there all day

Helping to red away

Chips and stones going down

All over the mucky ground

Here comes the crane

And lorries too

Getting ready with their jobs to do.

Cathal - Sixth Class

The diggers came

To make a site

For the prefab

Creamy white.

The big crane took

The prefab down and

We went out and had a look

At the prefab on the ground

The men put stones with

Diggers and dumpers.

Aisling Sixth Class

The noise of the crane

When it came to the school

It shook the prefab window panes

It was a messy site

The boys said, "Right!

Let's not fight,

Just get this prefab on the crane."

We all watched the crane lift

The prefab up into the air.

It wasn't long

Until it was over there.

Next day the prefab

Was all together

The men and

Trucks were gone

And now the prefab

Is very long.

Charlene - Sixth Class

The New Classroom

The digger lifted the grass

And the dumper took it away

Then they put down some stones

And went away for the day.

Barry - Sixth Class

The Flying Classroom

Up, up and away

It came soaring through the air

Dangling from a cat's paw

Like a ball of wool.

Slowly it was lowered to safety

Shoved into place like a prisoner

In a cell.

A view stopping giant.

Now the classroom's runway is gone

Fresh grass covering it's scar

It looks like it's settled in

The morning light is blocked

The playground's lights are dim.

Amanda Sixth Class

Spaceship

ZOOM ZOOM Erh!!!

It's a spaceship landing on earth

Taking children far away.

Aliens leaping out

Lowering their captain

To the ground

Making sure there

Is nothing in the path

Of the spaceship.

Cliona - Sixth Class

The New Class

The odious digger monster

Eating the grass.

The men guffawed at the children.

When the digger monster is full

He takes a drink of stones

And spits it on the ground

Where he had eaten the grass.

It looks like a market square

Without the shops

Or a building site

Without the machines.

And then comes the cannon shooter

Followed by a lorry

It lifted a house

And put it on the stones.

When it was finished

It seemed so strange

That there was a new class.

Brendan - Sixth Class

The New Classroom

The roaring of the dumptruck spinning,

The soaring of the digger bucket digging

Carting clay here and there

Leaving the foundation flat and bare.

Then the monster crane arrives

Oh gosh, its aim is very high.

It lifts the prefab off with ease

I want to drive it, can I please!

It's put together one by one

I estimate it weighs a ton.

Now it's finished, now it's done

I'm sure third class will have lots of fun.

Jamie - Sixth Class

The New Classroom

Teacher hauled children out of the classroom

To go out to the freezing cold.

It grew bigger and bigger

Until it seemed

Like it touched the sky

Feeling the clouds.
