St.Joseph's School Choir

St.Joseph's Choir consists of all girls from 5th classes. The choir sings for all religious, festive occasions and school concerts. All children are familiar with staff notation.

Music in the Classroom

Apart from the curricular singing lessons, music is part of classroom life with a selection of well-known classical pieces played, for example, during art class or other quiet periods. Mozart is recognised as an aid when children are performing maths assignments.

Musicals

We put on various musicals. This year we intend to collaborate with Mater Christi Secondary School in a production of "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat". This will involve children from all classes.

Instruments

In 2001/02 a new policy on instrumentation will go into practice in the school. Lessons in tin whistle, guitar and keyboard/piano will commence. Staff members with appropriate skills and peripatetic teachers will be employed.
