VIDEO PROJECT ON LITTER
Mrs. Teresa
McCrohan, a first class teacher in St. Joseph's G.N.S. entered the school
in the Anti-Litter competition.
The school came
first and here are some comments from two girls from Sixth class and two girls
from Second class.
Mrs. T.
McCrohan entered our school “ST. JOSEPH’S G.N.S” for the Anti-Litter
Competition, and thankfully we came first.
On winning this project we, the fifth class girls produced a video about
litter and the environment. Mrs. T.
McCrohan rehearsed with us many times.
It was exciting waiting for the video man to come and shot the
scenes. One of the scenes, a picnic
scene, was shoot in Emo Court. Here we
had two picnic scenes as follows:
P
The right way to picnic!!
P
The wrong way to picnic!!
The girls that left all the
litter behind showed us that we are really harming our environment.
Michelle
M, Sixth Class
We had
a protest about litter outside our school.
We had placards with slogans such as:
P
STOP THE DROP
P
GO GREEN NOW
P
PUT IT IN THE BIN
P
GET FITTER WITH LITTER
We also had a reporter who
interviewed us and we explained the aim of our project to him. It was all very exciting and we also had our
photograph taken for the local newspaper.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and felt that I learned something about our
environment and how litter destroys it.
Mary-Rose M, Sixth Class
Its fun doing the Litter
video. I like doing the Sherlock Holmes
bit. I have a magnifying glass in my
hand. I check people’s hands to see
which girl is the litter bug. Aileen is
the litter bug in our class.
Colette C, SecondClass
In the litter show I show
people my model. It is a model of the
Titanic. I made it myself. First I got the lid of a shoebox and then I
got a butter tub and turned it upside down.
I covered all of it with craft paper.
I then got two cylinders and made chimneys. I drew some people and stuck them in. I drew an anchor and also stuck it on. I put a flag on top. The
Titanic sank in the middle of the ocean and a lot of people died, only a few
were saved.
Joanne D, Second Class
I showed my mode of the Killeshin Hotel.
I made it myself with boxes from our ART BANK. First I got a cornflakes box and I turned it inside out then I
opened the top to make a roof. I then
got 2 cylinders and then I put craft paper over them and they made the
porch. I also drew windows on the front
and on the back of it to make it look like it had lots and lots of rooms. The Killeshin Hotel is in Portlaoise. I was in the Killeshin Hotel for my sisters
confirmation.
