Wicklow Championship To get to the Wicklow final was a major accomplishment for us as we had to play many excellent teams along the way. First of all we beat Abbey CC who played very well. Then we went on to beat Wicklow VS, Carnew and Baltinglass who all played excellent games with great enthusiasm. We are now in the Leinster Chapionship. We had to play Clara, the current cup holder and having defeated them we went on to play Swords. A victory there meant that we were in the final. The final was played in Portlaoise on Feb 27th against Athlone and it resulted in a draw. We had to play Athlone again in Newbridge and it was a very hard fought battle. The scoreline at full time was 0-8 to 0-8. The match then went into extra time and eventually Dunlavin were victorious, the final scoreline being 0-14 to 0-10. This team consists of the boys named on the previous page, these boys constantly give over and above what is asked of them and it is their dedication which has brought so much success to St. Kevins. Two recent victories that they secured were against De la Salle (2-12 to 2-4) and against Baltinglass 2-8 to 0-7. Sport in our School In St Kevins we take pride in our sport and sport plays a large part in St. Kevins. Whether you are interested in Football, Camogie, Basketball or any other sport, we always dedicate and devote ourselves to getting the best possible performances from ourselves, as well as devoting ourselves to Academic pursuits. In our school we have three basketball courts, the school is joined to two football pitches, which are also Camogie pitches and running fields and we are 5km from Rathsallagh golf course. We have an indoor basketball court which is also suitable for volleyball, badminton, hockey, soft ball and indoor football, a semi-gym consisting of a climbing frame on which various attachments can be placed such as ladders and benches etc. We also have basic gymnastic equipment and there are plenty of facilities nearby to cater for all our needs. |
