St. Malachy's Boys' School is situated in Dundalk, Co. Louth,
Republic of Ireland. Dundalk is a town on the east coast of Ireland about 50 miles
north of Dublin and 50 miles south of Belfast. There are approximately 200 pupils at the school with an
administrative principal and a teaching staff of 11. The school has a long and proud history having been founded by
the Dominican Fathers in the 18th century. The first school, known
as the Chapel School, opened in 1827 in the Priory. In 1833 it became a fully
recognised National School and moved to the building now used as the Rosary
Centre. In 1900 it moved again to the current Infants’ School. The present
school was opened in 1953 and is less than 150 metres from the site of the
original Chapel School.
Many of our former pupils have carved out successful careers for
