“You’ll never beat the Friary”

Our Under 13 footballers, managed by Mr. Farrell, defeated C.B.S. Drogheda by a single point on Saturday 13th of October to become Louth Urban Champions. Friary took an early lead and dominated the first half, helped by a light wind and the sustained heroics of goalkeeper Ryan. The second half brought out the best in C.B.S. who narrowed the margin to one point in injury time in what must have been one of the most entertaining finals played in years.

The Under 13 Urban Football Final

As holders of the title The Friary were disappointed not to repeat the victory of last year. We congratulate our old rivals St. Joseph’s CBS, Drogheda who were too strong for us on the day. Well done to Mr. Farrell and the lads on reaching the final.

Sam

A surprise visitor dropped in on Thursday, October 17th. It was none other than Sam himself accompanied by a few of the boys from the Co. Armagh.

THANKS

Following his brilliant performances at the World Cup Steve Staunton arrived back at the Friary where he received all of his primary education. He was presented with a Waterford crystal vase by the children in honour of his 100th cap against Germany.
