Welcome
Michael Higgins
Chairperson

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the web site of St. Mary's GAA Club Athenry. In recent years we have become one of the strongest clubs in County Galway and indeed in the country, winning three All-Ireland Senior Hurling Club Finals in 1997, 2000 and 2001.

With great success also at underage in both hurling and football, the club has embarked on an ambitious and exciting development plan. In December 2001 we had an open day in our new clubhouse in Carnaun for the people of the parish. There was a tremendous turnout on this historic day for the club. The launch of the updated version of the club history book also took place on the same day. Compiled by Jarlath Cloonan, and launched by Jim Carney of The Tuam Herald, the hugely impressive 212 page history covers over 100 years and contains over 400 photographs...a must read for all GAA followers.

We also pride ourselves on being a very progressive club and to that end we have now created this web site for all to enjoy. It is our intention to constantly update this site with all the latest results and other news. Our club lotto results will also be published weekly so you can check to see when you have won!!!

The club is currently very strong and united; however, it is only with you, our supporters, patrons and sponsors that we can maintain this momentum. Thanks for your continued support and we look forward to updating you regularly on this web site. I hope you enjoy browsing through our pages and if you have any comments or stories please feel free to email them on to us.

Yours in sport,
Michael Higgins
