A Visit From St. Marys Baldoyle

THE DAY THEY CAME TO US

Yesterday people from Saint Marys Hospital Baldoyle came to our class. These are people that are physically and mentally disabled. That means it just takes them a little longer to learn. So when they came they came down to Ms. Cogans class thats where we went for the day because our prefabs are very small. So they came in and we played games and introduced ourselves. Two people came over to our desk. Me,Holly and Laura , were sitting there and a boy and girl came over and sat beside us. The boy’s name was Mark he was 9 and the girl’s name was Aoife and she was Seventeen and there were four more and their names were Graham, Martin, Robin and Joseph. They were all Seventeen and Eighteen. First we went in and played games then we went down to the P.E hall and played a game of Hurling. Later we came back to the classroom and played more games. Suddenly they started telling us about Graham and Martin were leaving so they were having a party. Later on we had Bonoffi, Tayto, drinks, bars and loads more. Sometime later we brought them around the school for a walk and up and down the yard and everyone was staring at them. But I told them to go away so they did. Then we went in and they had to go so I wheeled Mark out and put him on the bus and we went up on a lift it was a great day. I found out that Robin fancys Martin.

On the 6/3/03 people from St Marys hospital came to our school . They were all perfect the only thing that was imperfect was me .

When they came in I was so nervous, but I got to know them more than expected . All their names are : Robin , Aoife ,Mark , Graham , Joseph and Martain . One girl called Robin came over to us and made friends . I really liked and grew fond of Robin . We played snakes and ladders , checkers , chess and guess who . Then we went down to the hall and they played indoor hurling for us . When we came back we got Banoffi it was okay .

I gave Robin a tour around the whole school . After that Robin and the others had to go home . We said goodbye to them and then we went out for break . After break we went back to class and played bingo . I won and got ten credits . For being so good we got no homework . I really enjoyed my day

ST.MARYS VISIT TO ST.MOLAGAS!!!

On March the 6th 2003 some mentally disabled people came in and their names were : Graham, Robin, Cairan, James, Joseph, Martin, Aoife and Mark. Joseph wasn’t in a wheelchair but he had walking frame but ,sometimes he crawled on the ground. They were mostly seventeen but one of them was nine. After we played some games ,we looked at them play some wheelchair hurling. Five lucky people played with them called Simon, Eric, Holly, Laura and Danny. It was funny when sir pushed Graham because he was so slow. While we were playing Laura and Niamh got the bonoffi that Niamh's dad had made for us. I didn’t really like it because I don’t like bananas. Then we played some board games like : Snakes and Ladders, chess, fustration and lots more. They went home then and we were sad because they didnt seem like they were disabled . I had that much fun that if I had a rate Iwould give it 10 out of 10, because they were smiling and having fun. I hope they will come back again!!!!!!

A Visit From St. Marys

On the 6th March 2003, six physically and mentally disabled people came to our school St. Molaga’s N.S. The six people were all in wheelchairs. We had great fun, first we had a chat and played games like chess and draughts. Then they showed us wheelchair hurling and six lucky people Christopher, Danny, Eric, Holly, Laura and Simon all joined in. After that Niamh’s dad made some Banoffi and we played more games and got something to drink. Around about a quarter to one we got them strapped in and ready to go back to Baldoyle. They have a lift, well it’s like a lift to carry the people onto the bus and it is worth 8000 euro.

School visit

Last Wednesday the school of St Marys came to visit us. It was a great experience for all of us. The children had learning and physical disabilities. They were between 13-18 yrs of age.

They arrived at 10 . 30 am in their mini bus. First Mr Falvey’s class greeted them. They played games such as snakes and ladders and chess. Their teacher and 2 assistants helped them. Later we went to the hall to play hurling. They played brilliantly in their wheelchairs. Joseph and Mark in goals were brilliant.

Afterwards we returned to class. Niamh's dad had prepared food for all. Some children went around the school to see what it was like. They went home at one o, clock. We learned that these children were not very different from us. We might go and visit them ourselves in May. I am looking forward to it.
