Drogheda Youth Choral Festival in the Europa Hotel,Dublin Road, Drogheda, on Wednesday 22nd November2006
Adjudicator: Peter Sweeney
At ten a.m. on Wednesday the choir met at the front hall to eat our lunch and practice. Then we got on the bus and began our journey to the competition. I felt both nervous and confident that we were going to win. When I first entered, competion A was still going on. We heard "St.John's N.S." from Drogheda. I felt they were O.K. I went out because Ms.Hegerty called us back. We re-entered and our competition started. "Scoil Mhuire Fatima" sang "The Sally Gardens" and "Cripple Creek". I thought they were lovely at singing. Then we were next. We sang "Water Come A Me Eye" and "Come Unto Him", which I thought we excelled at. After the other schools sang, Mr. Sweeney told us what he was looking for from the choirs and he was about to announce the winner. Everyone held their breath in anticipation, but alas the winners were "Scoil Mhuire Fatima". We all got onto the bus and accepted defeat by one point, even though the adjudicator said we had exellent focus. We were also happy to come in second place and when we returned got a night off homework. My teacher Ms. O'Brien was fair and gave everyone in the class a night off homework .
