CHOIR COMPETITION

On the fifth of May 2004, St.Molagas school choir competed in the Choir Festival. We left the school at half-past nine. We had a sing-song on the bus.We arrived at the hall at around a quarter-past ten. When we went in everybody was looking at us and giving us the thumbs down.

We were the third choir to perform. We sang two songs "Shepard Song" and "Drunken Sailor". It was ages until we got the results. When we finally got them, the judge commented on everybody's performance. He said that we sang very clearly and it was beautiful. All the other choirs got bad points but we didn't.

The judge said we were all winners but the trophy will be awarded to St.Molagas school. I couldn't believe it. We were over the moon with the win.Every other school clapped but you could tell they were really jealous because of the way they looked at us. We had our lunch after the competition and next we went into the church to practice two more songs because we'd be singing again later on in the day. We would be competing against a secondary school so we had to sing brilliantly.

The judge commented on the performances again and said we were very good. He said the other school were good too but their soloist was a bit out of tune. They also sang too fast. He thought they were better than us so he awarded the trophy to them. I was glad that they won because they were excellent. On the way home we could finally sing " We are the champions".

CHOIR COMPETITION

Yesterday on the 5/5/04 there was choir competition. It was really good fun. Before we went we watched a bit 'Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory'. We sang 'The Sheperd Song' 'Drunken Sailor' 'Himelfluct' and 'Pure Imagination' which is out of 'Willy Wonka'. For the song Simon dressed up as Willy Wonka. It was really funny. When he walked out he said ;

'Welcome boys and girls

to the chocolate room.

Close your eyes

Make a wish…….'.

We won the first competition and we came second in the second in the other one. On the bus was good, everyone was singing and laughing. Ms. Hegarty was really pleased. All the other choirs were good very good. Now its over that was our last year .

The Choir's Day Out

Yesterday the 5th of May 2004 the choir of St.Molaga's Balbriggan went to the Drogheda Youth Choir competition in Tullyallen. There were five other competitors in competition B we were second to perform on the stage. We sang the "Shepherd song and Drunken Sailor" which I thought we sang very well.

After the five other choirs had finished the judge said a few words about our performances. He told us even though he mispronounced our school name we all heard the result that we had won. Shortly afterwards we went out onto the grounds to have our lunch and then went into the nearby church to practise for the other competition. Meanwhile I was getting ready for my part as Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. So when we sang "Himmuflugt" and then I was on saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boy's and Girls, Welcome to the chocolate room". Then "Close your eyes, Count to three, and make a wish.

I had to do that in a dickeybow, waistcoat, hat and candy cane. Then we sang "Pure Imagination" and then after us were Greenhills College Drogheda. Unfortunately we came second but it was ok we had fun anyway. On the way home we went down under the Boyne Cable Bridge and got aero bars off Mr. O'Toole the Principal. When we got back to the school he was delighted to hear that we won the first competition.

Miss Hegarty our choir teacher and Miss Ellis are also delighted. I couldn't have had a better day than what I did have.

CHOIR COMPETITION.

On the 5th of May 2004, there was a choir competition in Drogheda and our school choir participated in it. We went to Drogheda and we saw different schools who were also participating.

We sang two songs at the first competition and they were called ''The drunken sailor" and ''The shepherd song''. We sang well and to our amazement we came first and won a trophy.

Our 2nd competition was with a secondary school and so we had to try more than our best. We were the first to sing so we sang two songs namely "Pure Imagination" and "Hummeflugt". Our choir entertained the audience by a presentation from a 6th class student named Simon and he was dressed up as Willy Wonka in the chocolate factory. It was really funny and we had a great time. The secondary school choir won the competition but still we were very happy.

We had a very tremendous day and a very, very great time.
