Below is Luke's story.
Congratulations Luke.
If I Owned The Credit Union
If I owned the Credit Union I would have mobile service for elderly or disabled people who can't get out of their homes so they can do their business. I would have information leaflets in different languages because with the growing population of Balbriggan more and more foreign people are living here. I would give awards for kids for saving, such as when a child saves two hundred and fifty euro I would give them a ten euro SMYTHS voucher the next time the child comes to the Credit Union.
Also if a child has an account let them have a separate account to save for specific items such as play stations or game boys. I would make different colour books for children and have a competition for children to design the cover . I would install television sets for children so they would stay quiet while adults lodge and take out their money. I would open earlier for people on their way to work and later for people on their way home from work.
I would make a lower counter area for children with accounts so they can see over, give in their money, take out their money and learn to be responsible with money. When children lodge [or take out] their money I would give them special money boxes in the shape of a stack of one hundred coins to encourage children to save . Near Christmas I would ask a famous Irish person to come in and talk to the kids about Credit Unions and why they are better than banks . Once a year I would ask children to come and I would tell them about the history of the Credit Union .
