Our Information Books

This year our class received two boxes full of books. One box contained science books and the other history books. If you are wondering how we got them, it was the parents association who kindly donated money to buy the boxes of books for our classes as we did not have very many information books.

We have read the books in class and used them to find out more information on history and science.

My favourite book is "Dig and Sow, How do plants grow ".

I learned why grass is green, why bees hum, what flowers are for, and how can you tell how old a tree is .

The chapter I liked the most is why don’t trees fall over and the one I disliked was what is soil because I already knew what it was.

Book Report

This year our class received two boxes of information books, History and Science from the parents association. We enjoy reading them at DEAR time and when we have finished our work. Not only are the books informational they are fun too. There are lots of different history games to be played and lots of different science projects to be tried so why not read one of the books today and receive the experience like we did.

Title

Human Body

Publisher: Miles Kelly

This book was about the parts of a human body. I learned that the bones in a joint are held together by stretchy strips called ligaments. I also found out that a scalp hair grows for up to five years before it falls out.

The part I enjoyed most was looking at the teeth and finding out things about the teeth. They have a covering of enamel, which is stronger than most kinds of rocks! Interesting words I learned were cerebrum and hippocampus.

Book Report

I also read Human Body and I thought it was great . The book was about all the parts of your body. I learned that your skin’s surface is made of tiny cells. I als learned that there are about 120,000 hairs on your head. The part I enjoyed most was the teeth. It says that the hardest part of your body are the teeth. The part about the brain was interesting too. When I read it I noticed that your two fists side by side are as big as your brain.

The book is about building the tombs in Egypt. I learned that the Egyptians were very rich in their time. I also found out that they had a lot of gold in their time also. The part I enjoyed most was about them building their homes.

Ancient Peoples

The title of this book is Ancient Peoples and the author is Claire Forbes. The book is published by Two-Can Publishing. This book is about ancient people such as pharaohs, gods and goddesses. It is also about many different countries. I learned about the things ancient people used, that we still use today. I also learned what archaeologists study. I found out that the Egyptians lived in northern Africa and Greeks lived by the Mediterranean Sea.
