Ireland is hosting the Special Olympics in 2003. Most people do not know if it is for people with mental disabilities or for physical diasabilities. The Special Olympics is for people with mental disabilities while the Paralympics is for people with physical disabilities. In 2002 the Irish Athletes have to qualify to be in the Irish team to play in the international games in 2003.
Balbriggan is hosting Pakistan in the Special Olympics in 2003. Some very kind people take in the families of the Athletes. Most of the children in St Molagas and in other schools in Balbriggan drew pictures and wrote poems and essays. Michael was the highest winner in the school with two wins out of three and everyone is very proud of him.
The Olympic flame is coming to Balbriggan .It is going through the main street on the 19 of July at 3.00pm. All of the pictures and drawings will go to Dublin and after that they will go to Pakistan. Everyone will hopefully have a great time and we hope everything goes well so Ireland will have a good name. We would like to thank the Balbriggan Town Council starting this competition and Mr O Toole for letting the school participate and Mrs Hasset and Miss O Brien for looking after all the children. We would also like to thank Ulick Maypother for providing transport to take us to the Town Hall.
