Pat's Project ( D.T.B. )

Dissolving Boundaries through Technology in Education

Dissolving Boundaries through Technology in Education is a project involving 52 schools throughout Ireland, both North and South of the Border.

Our school is linked with Braniel Primary School, Belfast,  Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The name of our Project is "School Life / City Life".We are also going to share some of our local history and geography through projects like the "Marino Casino"

                                                 Background to our Project

In April 2000, teachers from all 52 schools met for a conferences in Belfast and Dublin. Here links were forged with schools in Northern Ireland. Agreement was then reached upon collaborative curricular projects. We decided to look at our locality and compare it with Braniel's locality in Northern Ireland.

The pupils that participated in this project were from our fifth and sixth classes. In all about 120 pupils participated.

We communicated with Braniel Primary School by email, snail mail and video conferencing. To date we have exchanged Pupil Profiles and done some video conferencing with the 6th Classes and the P7's.While the video conferencing has been limited it has been a very worthwhile experience for the classes and we hope to continue with them.
