The Sue Ryder House in Dalkey is situated in a superb location overlooking Dalkey Island. When the site was purchased from the Loreto nuns it included Carrig-na-Greine, the old family home of a well known family of jewellers dating from the early 18th century. The house, which has a preservation order, requires an enormous amount of work to be done on it to turn it into a community centre for the residents of the Sue Ryder House in Dalkey. The work on this house will be the Millennium Project for the Sue Ryder Foundation in Ireland. At the moment there are twenty seven houses in Dalkey, both single and double, with planning permission for eight additional houses. Three of these started in 1998. There will be ten apartments in the main house when the work on this project is completed. This will increase the accommodation available in Dalkey considerably and will give rise to additional vacancies there. It is not impossible to come and live in the tranquility of the Sue Ryder House in Dalkey. There you can enjoy the security offered together with all the other advantages that go with style of sheltered accommodation. Living in the Sue Ryder House in Dalkey also means becoming part of a well-known established community with plenty of outside activities and good shopping facilities in the immediate vicinity. |
