The Founding of The GAA

The GAA was founded in 1884 in Hayes’ Hotel in Thurles Co. Tipperary. The meeting was organised by Michael Cusack. Maurice Davin was the first president of the GAA. The first All-Ireland hurling final was won by Tipperary and Limerick won the first football final. Archbishop Croke, Michael Davitt and Charles Stewart Parnell became the first patrons of the GAA. Archbishop Croke is remembered as Croke Park is named after him. There are five stands in Croke Park they are the Cusack Stand, The Davin Stand, The Hogan Stand, The Nally Stand and Hill 16.

Barack Obama

Barack Hussein Obama II is the American president and the first ever African American president. He lives in the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington D.C. He was born on August 4th 1961 which means he is 50 years of age. He is the 44th president of the USA. Some facts about Barack Obama are he read every Harry Potter book, he can speak Spanish, he is left handed, he ate dog meat, snake meat and roasted grasshopper while he was in Indonesia, he promised his wife he would stop smoking when he ran for president, he was known as Barry until university when he asked to be addressed buy his full name! He was born in Honolulu Hawaii.
