Carrick-on-Shannon is acknowledged nationally and internatioally as an Anglers Paradise, and has hosted National and International Fishing Competitions.

Within a 10km radius of the town are no fewer than 41 lakes, all of which are free unrestricted and easily accessible. Catchwise expect excellent Roach, Bream, Rudd, Tench, Pike, Perch, Eel or Trout. Boats, live bait, specialised fishing maps and a vast fund of lacal fishing knowledge and expertise are readily available throughout the town.

Carrick-on-Shannon
Carrick-on-Shannon one of Ireland's top coarse angling centres with 41 lakes and the river Shannon is stocked with bream, rudd, roach, tench and pike. It is the ideal centre for the visiting angler with good fishing, entertainment, forest walks and boating readily available. On the Shannon big bags of roach can be caught at Battlebridge, Hartley, Jamestown and Drumsna, not to forget downtown Carrick itself. Lough Aduff and Tully are noted for large tench up to 7 lbs. Carrickport Lake, Lough Bran and Bog Lake boast big shoals of bream. Bait, tackle, boats and detailed maps available.

Drumshanbo
Drumshanbo is situated on the southern shore of the vast Lough Allen, the first of the river Shannon's great lakes. There are ten other lakes within a 6 km radius of the town. Pike of up to 20 lbs have been taken from the river near the town and in excess of 30 lbs from Lough Allen. Bream, perch, rudd and tench are also stocked. Sizeable trout have been also taken occasionally by pike anglers as well as game fishermen. A feature of Drumshanbo is the attractive amenity centre with outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts and children's plan area which makes this centre particularly attractive to families. Bait and boats available. This makes Drumshanbo particularly suitable for an angling holiday destination.



Mohill
Mohill is a progressive business town with a long reputation as a coarse angling centre. Situated in the Rynn valley, it is surrounded by a choice of angling waters, the most notable of which are picturesque Lough Rynn, Creenagh Lake, Lough MacHugh and Cloonboniagh Lake. These are well developed and easily accessible and have recorded catches of tench up to 6 lbs with bream averaging 3 lbs and plentiful pike. All waters are well signposted and fishing stands are provided where it is not possible to fish from the shore. There is expert local angling advice available on all aspects of fishing in the locality. Boats available.

Rooskey/Dromod
Rooskey and Dromod are picturesque villages on the river Shannon and have been well known angling and boating centres for 25 years. The River Shannon and its tributaries, the Rynn and Eslin rivers together with Pigeon Island Bay (on the Shannon) Bog, Gortinty, Cloonboniagh, Rynn and Aduff lakes are the most popular waters in the locality. The main species to be caught are bream, pike, roach, perch, rudd, eels and tench as well as brown trout. Bream catches of 800 lbs, 300 lbs, 160 lbs and 100 lbs have been recorded in the locality. The local angling association provides an expert advisory service to visiting anglers and full insurance cover is available for locally organised matches. Boats and bait available.

Ballinamore
Bream and roach are the speciality catch in the Ballinamore area. Bream average 2.5 lbs, going up to 7 lb specimens, roach run at 8-10 oz, going up to 1.5 lbs. Daily catches of 120 lbs are not uncommon. Access to the waters has been very well developed with fishing stands, stiles and lakeshore drives and car parks well provided. The choice of waters is wide - there are 28 lakes within a 10 km radius of Ballinamore, plus some 17 km of riverbank. Species include bream, roach, rudd, perch, pike and eels. Five local lakes were stocked with tench over 20 years ago and are now all capable of yielding specimens of 6 lbs upwards. The local association is well equipped to service visiting anglers, and a lively nightlife provides a friendly evening's relaxation. Bait stockist and boats available.

Carrigallen
Carrigallen is a well-established centre on the upper Erne system. There are no less than fourteen first class waters within a radius of three miles of the town. some of these are within walking distance. Indeed Town Lake itself holds tench, pike, perch, bream and rudd while Gangin Lake, 500 yards away is noted for the size of its bream. It has been restocked with adult bream and brood tench. Rudd/bream hybrids are a feature in the twin lakes of Tully and Beaghmore, reaching up to 5 lbs in weight. Cullies, Tully and Gulladoo Lakes yield significant catches of bream and roach.
