U-21 Hurlers Qualify for district final
The U-21 hurlers continued the good sequence of results for club hurling teams with a win over Geraldine O'Hanrahan's in Grantstown on Saturday afternoon by 3-7 to 2-7. After a bad tempered first half Camross led by 2-5 to 1-1 after playing with a strong cold wind. The half was marred by a number of ugly incidents and one Ross player was sent to the line for breaking his hurley off Jimmy Doran's back. A highlight of the half was a penalty save by Eddie Cousins. In the second half Ross had the advantage of the wind but Camross had the advantage of an extra man. Camross always kept their nose in front and despite Ross reducing the lead to 3 points at the end, the result was never in doubt. The scorers were Gearóid Kelly (2-1), Eoin Leacy (0-3), Micheál O'Grady (1-0), Adrian Morrissey (0-2), and Jimmy Doran (0-1). Eoin Leacy dominated at centre back and there were strong perfomances from Eddie Cousins, David Morrissey, and Jimmy Doran. Bannow-Ballymitty are opponents in final.
Lotto
The club's Lotto jackpot of £6,500 was won by Alan and Esther Kelly and the ticket was sold by their mother Mary in the Launderette in Taghmon. A presentation was made in the Community Centre on Saturday. The next draw is on FRIDAY December 17 and is the first Lotto Draw to be held in the club bar in the community centre. Tickets are available from all usual sellers. Bottles of whiskey have been added as extra Christmas prizes for this draw.
