Byrne Cup

Taghmon-Camross completed its first round matches in the Byrne Cup minor football with a win by 0-9 to 1-3 in Gusserane on Sunday January 17.  Best for Taghmon were Eoin Leacy, Eoin Morrissey, Jonny Waters, Tom Fox and Shane Fox.   The scorers for Taghmon-Camross were Adrian Morrissey (0-2), Eoin Leacy (0-2), Eoin Morrissey (0-2), Jonny Waters (0-1), Tom Fox (0-1) and Darren Colfer (0-1).

 

Bord na nÓg AGM

The underage AGM took place on Monday January 11 in Taghmon N.S.  Outgoing chairman, John Waters, congratulated the Under 10’s for the win in the Sarsfields football Tournament and the Under 16 county hurling champions.  He thanked Jim Allen and Paddy McGee for sponsoring new sets of jerseys last year.  He welcomed Jim Dempsey to Caroreigh N.S. and wished Eddie Doran the best in retirement. 

            Officers elected for the year were Chairman, John Waters; Vice-chairman, Jim Morrissey; Secretary, Aindreas Ryan; Asst. Secretary, Diarmuid Buttimer; Treasurer, Eoin O’Gorman; PRO, Ulick Stafford; District and County Board Representatives, Ger Kelly and Denis Nolan; Féile Officer, Michael Stafford; Management Committee Representative, John Waters.

            Team managers elected for 1999 were U-8 football and hurling, Tom O’Gorman; U-10 F&H John Waters; U-12 F&H Derek Kent; U-14 hurling, Jim Morrissey; U-14 football, Mick Doyle; U-16 hurling, Michael Stafford; U-16 football, Mick Doyle; U-18 hurling and football, Liam Morrissey.

 

Annual Dinner Dance

The annual dinner dance will take place on  Saturday February 13 in the Ferrycarrig Hotel.  Medals will be presented to the lady footballers, the juvenile hurlers, and U-21 footballers.  The special guest will be Offaly hurler, Brian Whelehan.  Tickets are now on sale from Secretary, Aindreas Ryan, and the price is £12 each.

 

Lotto

At the last lotto draw the winning numbers were 1, 4, 14, 26.   The jackpot was not won.  There were 8 match 3 winners who were Teresa McGann, New Ross; Jim Flood, Ramsgrange; Jean Kelly, Jimmy Dempsey, Piercestown; Jane Kehoe, New Ross; Wally O’Brien, Cushinstown; Catherine Ennis, Duncannon; David Byrne, Bridgetown.  The next draw takes place tonight (January 20) in Ryan’s of Galbally.  The jackpot is £4700.
