Taghmon/Camross Weekly Press Release, 11 October, 1999

Senior Football Relegation

Taghmon/Camross have one chance left to retain senior football status after losing to Gusserane in Grantstown on Saturday afternoon by 0-11 to 0-4.  Taghmon were weakened from the previous matches with a number of players unavailable.  Gusserane started better and led by 0-4 to 0-0 after playing against the wind in the first half.  The backs defended well to limit Gusserane to 4 points but unfortunately the forwards failed to register hitting a number of poor wides.  In the second half Taghmon started better and a goal mouth meleé resulted in a point for substitute Derek Kent that could easily have been a goal.  Taghmon were to have 5 clear cut goal chances in the second half which if successful could have changed the result, including a last minute penalty.  But sadly lady luck was not with our lads.  At the end of the match Gusserane were reduced to 14 men after an unsavoury incident that required Noel Doyle to be brought to hospital after being knocked out.  Derek Kent, Jason McLoughlin, Paddy Fitzpatrick, and Eamon Codd scored the Taghmon points.  Best for Taghmon was Bernard O'Gorman.

Race Night

The club in association with Bord na nÓg is staging its annual race night in the Regal Lodge on Friday night October 15 at 8:30.  This is the only Bord na nÓg fundraiser this year and the support of all parents of players is requested.  A bus service will be available on the night from the square in Taghmon and there will be a bar extension and music.  A great night will be had by all.
