Junior Football

Taghmon/Camross qualified for the New Ross district final Junior B football final with a 1-12 to 0-7 defeat of Fethard in Clongeen on Saturday.  Apart from the first 10 minutes, after which Fethard led by 4 to 1, Taghmon was clearly the better team and led by 1-7 to 0-4 at half time.  An excellent save by David Banville was the turning point.  Two minors, Eoin Leacy and Adrian Morrissey, played very well in the forwards, and team is a good blend of youth and experience.  The whole team played well for Taghmon especially Ger Kelly, Niall Leacy and Eoin Morrissey in the backs, Martin Hogan (0-1) and Roddy McDermott in midfield, and Eoin Leacy (1-0), Nicky Cousins (0-1), Adrian Morrissey (0-5) and Diarmuid Buttimer (0-2) up front.  Joe Doyle (0-2) and George Dee (0-1) scored the other points.
