Junior B
footballers win
Taghmon/Camross Junior B footballers commenced the defence of their district crown with a facile 3-11 to 0-1 win over Adamstown in Grantstown on Saturday evening in perfect conditions. The team is changed from the team that lost the county final to Kilaneran last year. Gone up to senior are Robbie O'Callaghan, Jimmy Doran, Eugene McGee, and Eamonn Codd. But other players were available who were not available last year including Tomás Banville, Ricky Banville, David Banville, Roddy McDermott and newcomer George Dee. Taghmon lead by 1-7 to 0-0 at half time and were never in any danger. The scorers were Joe Doyle (1-2), Martin Hogan (1-1), Diarmuid Buttimer (1-1), Nicky Cousins (0-2), George Dee (0-2), Tomás Banville, Shane Purcell, and Shane Coady (0-1).
Bord na nÓg
The minor hurlers lost twice during the week to Rathgarogue-Cushinstown and Clongeen.
Race Night
The club in association with Bord na nÓg is staging its annual race night in the Regal Lodge on Friday October 15 at 8:30. This is the only Bord na nÓg fundraiser this year and the support of all parents of players is requested. A bus service will be available on the night from the square in Taghmon and there will be a bar extension and music. Horses are on sale from committee members for £20 each. The winning owner in each race will receive a cash prize of £100. Anyone interested in sponsoring a race or taking an advertisement in the race card should contact any committee member.
Club Meeting
A full meeting of the club will take place in the community centre on Monday night next (October 4) at 8:30. Items for discussion will include the race night and the club's development.
