Taghmon/Camross GAA Club Notes, 3 April 2000

Hurling

Both Taghmon/Camross hurling teams are 100% in the ACHL. On Sunday afternoon the second team played Ballygarret and won by 2-9 to 1-6. Camross won the toss and elected to play with the strong wind in the first half and at half time led by 1-7 to 1-0. The second half was more even, but Ballygarret never looked like catching Camross. The scorers were Nicky Cousins (2-3), Michael O'Gorman (0-2), Micheál O'Grady (0-2), Diarmuid Buttimer and Darren Colfer (0-1). Eddie Cousins was superb in goal. Niall Leacy, Michael Nolan, Malcolm McLoughlan, Darragh Kelly, Joe Doyle and Paudge Codd played well in the backs. Jonathon Waters and Darren Colfer controlled midfield. Diarmuid Buttimer, Nicky Cousins, Tom O'Gorman, Micheál O'Grady, and Mick O'Gorman were best of the forwards. Young substitutes Martin and Shane Coady, and Michael O'Gorman, Jr. tried hard. On Saturday afternoon Horeswood B failed to field and the first team won by walk-over.
