Taghmon/Camross GAA Club Notes, 10 April 2000

Hurling

Taghmon/Camross hurling teams remain 100 % in the ACHL.  On Saturday evening in Cushinstown the first team had a comfortable win over Rathgarogue/Cushinstown B by 2-10 to 2-3.  The scorers for Taghmon/Camross were Robbie O’Callaghan (0-7, 6 frees), Gearóid Kelly (1-2), Adrian Morrissey (1-0), and Jonathon Waters (0-1).  On Sunday evening in Gusserane Taghmon/Camross B had a comfortable win over Gusserane B by 4-9 to 1-3 (HT 4-4 to 1-3).  Four first half goals decided this game played in cold windy conditions and in the second half the defence held Gusserane scoreless.  Adrian Morrissey and goalkeeper, Edward Cousins, were in fine form for Taghmon/Camross.  Scorers Adrian Morrissey (0-8, 4 frees), Derek Kent (2-0), Martin Coady (1-0), Shane Coady (1-0), Tom O’Gorman (0-1).

Football

The intermediate footballers play Kilanerin away in a refixed match this evening (Wednesday) at 7:30 and the juniors are home to Kilrush in another refixture on Tuesday evening at 7:30.

U-10 Hurling

Taghmon/Camross started the Caulfield league campaign with a win over Clongeen by 5-3 to 2-0.  Best for Taghmon/Camross were Mikey Murphy, Alan Nolan, Matthew Doyle, Mark Waters, and Barry O’Gorman.  The next game is home against Gusserane at 7:00 pm this evening (Wednesday).

Greyhound Racing

Derek’s Idea had his third win in fine time from the outside trap at Enniscorthy on Thursday last.  Syndicate members and other fans will be travelling to Dublin in force on Saturday evening to see him compete from trap 8 in the fifth race at Shelburne Park.  Anyone interested in joining the expedition should contact the syndicate’s travel coordinator, George O’Connor.
