Taghmon/Camross Weekly Press Release, 10 January 2000

Annual General Meeting

The club AGM will take place in Taghmon/Camross GAA Community Centre on Sunday January 23 at 6 pm. This is the first AGM since the completion of the current stage of development and new club structures will be discussed. All members are requested to attend.

Holiday Festivities

The club's programme of holiday entertainment was extremely successful. The traditional married vs. singles encounter on St. Stephen's Day was played in cold windy wet condition and drew a good crowd who mostly watched from the comfort of the pavilion. The match ended all square. It was preceded by a Ladies match in which the single ladies won by the minimum margin in controversial circumstances. All returned afterwards to the pavilion for refreshments which were very welcome in the cold conditions. On New Year's Eve the pavilion was well and truly christened by the hosting of a very successful New Year's Eve party that was enjoyed by all. Mary Kelly and crew are complimented on the very high quality of the food that was served. On New Year's day the hurlers got their chance when the U-21 team that had narrowly lost in the district final played the Over 21 players. The young lads recent encounters stood them in good stead and they emerged victorious in a match played in as good conditions as one can expect for the time of year.
