Annual General Meeting

The club AGM was held in Taghmon/Camross GAA Community Centre on Sunday January 23. It was attended by a good crowd of around 60.  Treasurer, Eoin O’Gorman presented accounts of club finances which were dominated by development expenditure.  Eoin especially thanked club patrons who provided the club with substantial interest free loans to allow prompt completion of building work.  In his address chairman, Denis Nolan, commented on the poor performance on the field last year and called upon all in the parish to support the club teams.  He praised the club for its achievement winning the New Ross district club of the year for the superb development efforts and commented that if there were a county title for development work the club would have won it.  Michael Stafford, the newly elected Chairman of the county Bord na nÓg committee took the chair for the election of officers.  He thanked the club for providing its pitch for Bord na nÓg fixtures and training sessions by the county minor team.  He commented that clubs need to reduce their reliance on underage players in senior teams.  Too many games at this young age may ruin young talent.  There were no votes for any position. Andy Doyle was elected to join Bridget Molloy, Andy Fanning, Fr Brennan and Fr McCormack as club presidents.  Denis Nolan and Eoin O’Gorman were returned as chairman and treasurer.  Ollie Somers as vice-chairman.  Secretary Aindreas Ryan stood down and was replaced by Bridie Doyle.  David Banvillle was elected assistant secretary and Dermot Breen as Joint-Treasurer.  Ulick Stafford, Noel O’Gorman and Sean McGee were returned as PRO, county board representative and district representative.  Denis Nolan resumed in the chair and proposed that principal officers be limited to 5 years in office.  This was accepted but it was decided that the 5 year periods should be staggered.  Eoin O’Gorman announced that this would be his final year as treasurer.  Denis thanked Aindreas for his service to the club.  The following positions were filled as follows.  Bar manager; Ollie Somers. Insurance Officer; Tom O’Gorman.  Membership officer, Jim Morrissey.  Park Committee Chairman, Paddy Nolan.  Lotto Chairman, Mai O’Sullivan.  Bingo co-ordinator, Ann Hannon. Development Officer, Gerald Kelly.  Committee as large, Billy Nolan and George O’Connor.  The longest discussion of the night concerned team management.  It was decided to appoint a committee to manage the Intermediate hurling team and senior football team and appoint selectors for junior teams.  The committee elected is Dan O’Flaherty, Noel O’Gorman, Tom O’Gorman, Denis Nolan and a coach to be appointed.  Jim Doyle and David Banville were returned for another year as managers of the U-21 football and hurling teams. Andy Doyle thanked the club for continuing the development on behalf of the original community centre committee.  It was announced that the annual dinner dance will take place in Ferrycarrig Hotel on Saturday February 19.  Ticket are £12 and available from any committee member.   

Bord na nÓg AGM

The Bord na nÓg AGM is on Friday at 7:30 in the community centre.  All parents and others interested are requested to attend.  A turnout to match that of the main club AGM is requested.
