Minor Semi-final
Taghmon/Camross qualified for the minor county final with a convincing win over St Patrick's in Monageer on Thursday evening last by 3-7 to 1-6. Taghmon never looked threatened and led by 2-4 to 0-3 after playing against a strong cross wind breeze in the first half. The wind made shooting difficult for both sides. The second half was more even, but Taghmon/Camross maintained the 7 point margin. The scorers were Tom Fox (1-0), Eoin Leacy (1-0), Adrian Morrissey (0-3, 2 frees), Jason Delaney, Darren Colfer and Paul Doyle (0-1).
U-21 Final
Taghmon/Camross lost narrowly to Bannow/Ballymitty in the New Ross district final by 0-10 to 1-5. This was a very creditable performance in difficult circumstances. A postponement would have been better because the minor footballers continued involvement considerably weakened the team. However, this was refused by the district and opposition. In the match itself Taghmon/Camross played with the wind in the first half and led by the narrowest of margins, 1-3 to 0-5 at half time. With more consistent free taking the margin would have been greater. Taghmon/Camross fought well in the second half and took the first score, but were always struggling against the wind. Until the final Ballymitty point 3 minutes into injury time there was always a good chance of a draw. The scorers were Paddy Fitzpatrick (1-3, 1 penalty) and Joe Doyle (0-2). After the match Micheál Hayes present the trophy commemorating his late father John to Bannow/Ballymitty. The club wishes them the best representing the district, whenever that might be.
