Junior B Hurling

The junior B hurlers gained some consolation for the fiasco of last weekend and some revenge for the Junior B footballers' defeat with a satisfactory 4-8 to 1-9 victory over Gusserane in the New Ross district quarter-final in Grantstown on Saturday. Camross started much the better and early goals provided the basis for a 3-4 to 0-4 half-time lead. David Morrissey was again superb in the middle of the field with a committed man of the match performance. The Coady brothers were always menacing up front. The full back line was in control until a last minute misunderstanding between full-back and goal keeper eradicated the clean sheet. They failed to clear a speculative lob into the goalmouth. The scorers were Martin Coady (2-1), Derek Kent (2-0), Nicky Cousins (0-3), Shane Coady (0-2), Malcolm McLoughlan and Jason Delaney (0-1).

Rackard League Presentation

A reception including presentations of medals to last year's successful boys and girls teams will take place at 8:30 pm on Friday October 27 in the Community Centre. Runners-up medals will also be presented to the U-12 boys who reached the county final. All parents are requested to attend. The presentation will be followed by a disco.

This year's Rackard League football team is competing well. It has defeated Fethard, Clongeen and Horeswood to qualify for the district final.

Miscellaneous

The club thanks all patrons and sponsors for supporting the race-night on Friday. A good night was had by all. The club also thanks Allen Technology for the generous sponsorship of a new set of jerseys. The kit had its first successful outing on Saturday in the Junior B hurling championship.

Congratulations to neighbours, St. Anne's on winning their first senior hurling championship on Sunday to complete a famous double.
