Taghmon/Camross GAA Club Notes, 11 June 2001
Taghmon-Camross won two hurling matches without pucking a ball. Adamstown were unable to field in the New Ross district Junior B championship on Wednesday evening. The final match in the round robin against Horeswood is now crucial. This has been postponed from tonight because of last night’s scheduled ACHL 2C encounter with Fethard. The first team was due to play Ballyfad on Friday night in the ACHL but the north county men were unable to travel. While the points are welcome, the first team would have preferred the match against an Intermediate team as part of championship preparations. There is a challenge match scheduled on Friday evening at 7:30 pm against Leinster Junior Champions Askamore. This is part of the club’s Official Opening celebrations.
The official opening of Taghmon-Camross GAA Community Centre New Pitch and Extension is Sunday at 2 pm. The opening will be performed by Hugh Byrne TD, Minister of State in the Department of Marine and Natural Resources and by Seamus Aldridge, Chairman of GAA Leinster Council. The feature event is a hurling match in which Leinster finalist Wexford challenge Antrim at 3pm. This will be followed by minor hurling challenge match between Wexford and Cork at 4:45 and ACFL matches pitting Taghmon-Camross against Duffry Rovers in Premier B (6:30 pm) and against Clongeen in Division 2B (8:00). Other activities include a hurling challenge match between Taghmon-Camross and Askamore on Friday evening. A souvenir booklet has been produced and is on sale at £2. Any one who would like to be involved should contact any member of the committee as much help is needed on this big day for the club.
