Taghmon/Camross GAA Club Notes, 21 May 2001

Football

Taghmon/Camross Intermediate footballers started their campaign with a facile 3-9 to 1-4 win over a young Réalt na Mara team in Hollymount on Saturday evening. The first half was fairly even with Taghmon leading by 0-6 to 0-4 at half time. However, the second half was a different story with the Ballygarret men’s only score coming from a penalty that they were fortunate to be awarded. For Taghmon/Camross the best were half-backs Dave Foley and Jimmy Doran, midfielders Martin Hogan and man of the match, Michael O’Sullivan. The entire forward unit played well and the best were Bernard O’Gorman, Derek Breen and Jason McLoughlan. The full back line was seldom tested. The scorers were Bernard O’Gorman (1-2), Jason McLoughlan (0-5, 2 frees), Derek Breen (1-1), Darren Colfer (1-0), and Jason Delaney (0-1).

Official Opening

Preparations continue for the official opening on June 17. A full weekend of activities is planned and the highlight is a hurling match featuring the county team. Any one who would like to be involved should contact any member of the committee.

Lotto

The Lotto is now worth £8,300 to a single winner. Tickets are available from usual sources.
