Scoil Bhride , Lettermacaward was built in 1906 on the site of an old Catholic church. Fr. James Scanlon who was a curate in the area at the time decided to build this school to replace the old school in Boyoughter. He spent twenty-one years in Leitir ad was responsible for building other schools and churches as well. The contract was given to Hugh Mc Gill, Glen Rd , Glenties who built it with the help of the local people. The first principal of the school was a man called Eugene Gallagher. In the early twenties there were 106 pupils attending the school. At present there are 31 pupils and two teachers , Seamus Mc Bride who is the present principal and Una O´Donnell.Scoil Bhride was named after Saint Bridget whose feast day we celebrate on February 1st by making the traditional St. Bridget´s crosses.
