About Rescue Camden

(copied from Rescue Camden Report)
Rescue Camden is a Voluntary Community Committee set up in 2010 to help with the Restoration & Development of Fort Camden which is internationally recognised as one of the finest remaining examples of a classical Coastal Artillery Fort.

We have worked tirelesly throughout the winter on developing the project. We have made incredible progress on a number of fronts. We are currently preparing this season's programme of events and we look forward to opening a Tunnel & walking tour later this year.

Our aim is to clean, restore & develop this magnificent Fortress to its former glory thus creating a tourism and heritage centre which will not only become a huge attraction, locally, nationally and globally but will also create sustainable employment.

Whilst 2010 proved what a fantastic & popular ammenity Fort Camden is it is imperative now that the Fort remains open, to visitors the World over. With this in mind we would ask you for your support. Volunteer's are needed, you can pledge your time or expertise. Donate, materials, equipment or help us fundraise. Together we can and are making a huge difference to "Rescue Camden".

The President and members of the Irish Naval Association congratulate Rescue Camden Committee for the excellent work carried out at Fort Camden. It is unbelievable that a Fort allowed to decend into such a sorry state (as you will see from some of the web coverage) that it could be restored to its former glory. It is obvious that the Rescue Camden Team have a love for Fort Camden as we in the Naval Association do, having spent approx 30 years training in Camden during July and August each year until Camden's closure in 1989. Again thank you Rescue Camden Team
