| Origin | Okay, here it is, the official origin of Sonic the Hedgehog, verified by Sega themselves is..... well, no ones quite sure! There are actually two Sonic origins. The first one is the Fleetway Comic origin which was based of a 6 page Sonic Comic strip, the first ever Sonic comic strip, which appeared on the Disney Adventure Magazine in 1991. This origin has been accepted by Sega of America and Sega of Europe. However, it was later that Sega of America decided to accept the origin based on the SatAM caroon series and the Archie Comics because of Sonic Underground which was based more on this Sonic Universe then the Fleetway/Disney Magazine Universe. The only fair way to settle this argument is to say that they are both right, but certain people have their own preferences. | |
| Official Storyline | Before Sonic Adventure, all Sonic's history basically made up all standard Sonic games so the history of these games are in the Sonic Universe section (up soon). But now....Rushing about Station Square, Sonic comes up against a strange liquid monster that the police can't handle. Sonic jumps in a battles the monster who soon forms a puddle and escapes. The next day sees Sonic staying at the Station Square hotel when he hears a plane and Tails' plane comes into view. The plane crashes and Sonic rescues Tails to find out that Tails was using a Chaos Emerald as a power supply for the plane. Sonic agrees to come with Tails to his workshop but as they reach it in Mystic Ruins, Robotnik attacks them and manages to take the Chaos Emerald. He feeds it to the monster Sonic fought who turns out to be called Chaos. Robotnik plans to feed him all seven Chaos Emeralds to make him invincible and destroy Station Square, where Robotnik will build Robotnikland. Once again, Sonic and Tails must get all the Chaos Emeralds before Robotnik does. Sailing through Windy Valley Sonic gets another Chaos Emerald but when he gets another one in Casinopolis, Robotnik manages to steal it. The Floating Island had crashed in Mystic Ruins and Sonic makes it there next to get a fourth Chaos Emerald but when they return to Mystic Ruins, they meet Knuckles who demands the Emeralds they have. In the fight, Sonic drops the two Chaos Emeralds and Robotnik suddenly turns up to take them and give them to Chaos. It turns out that yet again, Robotnik tricked Knuckles into attacking Sonic so Robotnik could get the Emeralds. Chaos now has 4 Chaos Emeralds but Sonic still manages to beat him. Suddenly, a gigantic flying ship appears in the air, Robotnik's Egg Carrier. Robotnik escapes this but Sonic and Tails, leaving Knuckles to his own business, make it to Tails' workshop to take Sonic's plane, the Tornado, to chase Robotnik. But the plane isn't strong enough and gets shot down. Sonic awakes in Station Square beach and gets moving. As he walks along, he suddenly meets Amy who wants him to bodyguard a little bird she has. Sonic, suprised, makes a break for it but as he reaches Twinkle Park, Amy catches up. Sonic suddenly sees a robot, Zero, chasing her. He gets ready to fight but Amy decides to enter Twinkle Park instead. Sonic follows but loses track of her. After going through Twinkle Park and Speed Highway, Sonic eventually sees Amy being taken away to Mystic Ruins. He follows her and reaches Mystic Ruins just as Zero takes her aboard the Egg Carrier which flys away. Sonic races after the Egg Carrier through Red Mountain an suddenly meets up with Tails in his new plane, Tornado 2, this time, supercharged with a Chaos Emerald. Chase the Egg Carrier and this time, break the defences and crash land on the Egg Carrier. They make it for the bridge, but the ship transforms so they have to go there via the Sky Deck. They reach the main chamber and go onto the deck to suddenly meet Amy as Robotnik takes a Chaos Emerald from her bird. Robotnik goes off with the Emerald but sends his robot, E-101 to stop Sonic. After a few spin attacks, Sonic is ready to finish E-101 off when Amy stops him and tells Sonic that the robot is her friend. Relenting, Sonic decides to chase Robotnik while Tails take Amy back to the ground, but has to change the ship first to get to him. Once he does that, he races to the front of the ship just as Robotnik gives Chaos 2 more Emeralds, Chaos now is one Emerald away from having all seven and Sonic must stop him. Knuckles and Big the Cat appear on the scene but Sonic realises that there is not time for chit chat. In a fierce battle, Sonic finally defeates him with freeze bombs. Robotnik races off in his Eggomatic hovercraft, Sonic jumps to get him but misses and falls off the Egg Carrier. Awaking in a new area of Mystic Ruins he sees a large ancient temple and a pink ball of light floats towards it. Suddenly the enterance is revealed and Sonic makes for it. He travels through the temple, Lost World, to it's center where he sees a strange mural of a blue creature attacking a village. Suddenly, the pink ball appears and transports him to this strange location. There is a strange monument which is ablaze with fire. Sonic runs towards it and meets a young echidna. She is defending the momument from an angry group of warriors who want the Chaos Emerlads in the momument, but the girl refuses to give in. Light fills the area, and Sonic finds himself back in Mystic Ruins, looking up, he sees Robotnik enter his secret base and Sonic decides to put a stop to Robotnik once and for all. Fighting his way through the Final Egg, Sonic goes up agains one of Robotnik's most powerful robots, the Egg Viper. With skill and agility, Sonic smashes the Egg Viper into a flaming cloud and Sonic gets out of the place fast. Standing in Mystic Ruins, Sonic sees Robotnik as, fustrated, he goes off. Tails appears and the two go running together realising that they have saved the day. Sonic is exausted and while relaxing in Mystic Ruins, Tails comes up and tells him that the Floating Island, which had taken off back into the sky after Sonic beat Robotnik, had fallen again. The two make it to the Floating Island, and see Robotnik and Knuckles on the ground beaten up. Groaning, Knuckles tells them that Chaos is still alive and took the six Chaos Emeralds, Chaos can't get the last Emerald, just as Sonic is about to mobolise, the pink ball appears and brings Sonic back to the past. Sonic sees the events that happened where the girl echidna, Tikal, is trying to stop her father from taking the Chaos Emeralds and using their power to rule Mobius. But she is knocked out of the way and in getting to the Emeralds, the warriors hurt Chaos. These little creatures exist in Sonic's time too and are nice, cute cuddely, creatures. The hurt Chaos cause their protecter to appear. This is Chaos, the monster Robotnik uses in Sonic's time. Chaos attacks Tikals father and their tribes and Tikal horrified, races to the Master Emerald. She realises that mind and heart must be used to control the Emerald and she traps Chaos in the Emerald. Sonic wakes up and he and Tails race to where the Tornado 2 crash landed in the Mystic ruins where the last Emerald is. But they are too late. Chaos takes the Emerald and becomes Perfect Chaos. With this power, he floods Station Square causing massive destruction. Sonic reaches the ruins as Perfect Chaos, now a giganic, dragon like water being yells over the destruction. Suddenly he pink orb appears again and turns into Tikal, the person who, in trapping Chaos had trapped herself in the Master Emerald. Chaos was once a peaceful being but was angered and this rage was built up while trapped and now only wants complete destruction. Meanwhile, Perfect Chaos, having absorbed the energy from the Chaos Emeralds throws them onto the rubble around. Amy, Tails, Knuckles, Big, and the bird from E-101 appear on the scene and the Emeralds are collected. There is one last chance, if Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds, this time in a good way, not a bad way like Perfect Chaos, he can stop him. Sonic does this and becomes SuperSonic. In this energy, Super Sonic battles Perfect Chaos and Perfect Chaos soon burst. The good energy of Super Sonic neutralises Perfect Chaos' negative energy so Chaos goes back to normal. Peace and harmony reigh and Chaos and Tikal rise into the air and disappear. As everyone say how well things turned out, Sonic sees Robotnik fly off and Sonic follows. | |

Origin | The whole question as to how Sonic became blue, how he became so fast and basically why he is what he is today is answered in this series with simplicity. He was born that way, just like his parents, their parent and his ancestors in general. They all had supersonic speed and a blue colour. Sonic's family tree, (shown breifly once) indicates that Sonic and his parents were he last people in the tree. How his family tree shrunk into just a set of parents brings up some conclusions that we would prefer not to think about. |

Origin | Sonic's blue colour was apparently inherited as his uncle is blue too (a slightly paler shade, but that is probably because of his age). How he got his speed however is a mystery but he had it when he was at least 5 years old. Sonic originally lived in beautiful city called Mobotropolis with his Uncle Chuck and at the time, he and Princess Sally were playmates. When he was five, Robotnik, then known as Julian, had helped Princess Sallys father, the King, win a great war but instead of disableing the weapons he had made and used, as he was told to, he used them to take control of the city and turn all the citizens into robots using a machine knwn as a robotociser. Sonic, Sally and many others escaped to a hideout village in the Great Forest known as Knothole Village. There Sonic grew up and became part of the Freedom Fighter movement, dedicated to freeing Mobotropolis, (renamed Robotropolis by Robotnik) of Robotnik's rule and free all the roboticised people. |
| History | Sonic starts as Freedom Fighter of Mobius. Sonic and the other Freedom Fighters carry out gurrelia attacks against Robotnik, mainly destroying factories and other important buildings. | Egmont Fleetway Sonic the Comic | Origins | When Sonic was digging through a hill, he discovered a secret Lab run by a friendly scientist named Dr. Ovi Kintabor. Kintabor was working on a way to transfer all the evil in the world into six chaos emeralds using a "Retro Orbital Chaos Compressor" or ROCC for short. However, without the seventh Chaos Emerald, the gray emerald" the machine was unstable. Sonic was already a pretty fast hedgehog, and in return for Kintabor teaching him how to increase his speed, Sonic agreed to use his speed to look for the seventh emerald. Sonic started to train in a treadmill and Kintabor gave him special friction reducing sneakers to help him run faster. Sonic ran faster and faster and when he clocked 751 mile per hour, he broke the sound barrier, blasting the treadmill and causing a shockwave that slicked his spines into a streamlined shape and making them blue hot. Hence the hedgehog we know and love. After collecting all 7 chaos emeralds for the first time to keep Robotniks hands off them, (for the full story, you're meant to play the actual game i.e. "Sonic 1". Well, actually the game is called Sonic the Hedgehog but I called it Sonic 1 so that you would be clear on what game I was talking about) Sonic put the Chaos Emeralds on a table. However, the Chaos Emeralds reacted with eachother being so close together. The power surge warped the Emeralds back to the Special Zone and filled Sonic's body with chaos radiation turning Sonic into SuperSonic. From that moment on, until a certain point, close contact with Chaos Emerlads or great stress causes Sonic to go SuperSonic. |
| History | Right from episode 1, Sonic was there (strangely, enough seeing that only the whole comic was named after him). Tradgy struck when Sonic was sent 6 months into the future in STC#8-9 by the Omni-Viewer, an all seeing all knowing screen that was a friend of Sonic but put under Robotniks command. This gave Robotnik time to take control of the entire planet. Sonic and his friends continued to fight Robotnik. Due to Robotnik's control, they had to stay hidden in an underground base. After they do their part on battling Robotnik. On issue 26, Amy is trapped at Never Lake and Sonic goes to rescue her. On arrival, Sonic comes face to face with Metallix. The fight is intense, but Sonic wins. Metallix retreats taking Amy with him to Mirical Planet and Sonic follows. Sonic is then fighting Metallix where Metallix has an imfinite source of energy but Sonic's future self appears and sends Sonic into the past using a time stone where he erases Metal Sonic's existance before returning to his own time to send his other self back in time with the time stone to do what he did (phew!).The Freedom Fighter's secret base was lost Robotnik tricked Knuckles into believing that Sonic and Co. were the bad guys (as in Sonic 3) and wanted to use Knuckles to get the Chaos Emeralds which Sonic had since the first STC. It was after this that while Sonic took on Knuckles, Tails' put Sonic's plan into action and captured Robotnik. The Freedom Fighters held him in his base, but due to a tracking device, Knuckles found them and managed to rescue Robotnik. Robotnik now knew where the base was. After his plan to capture the full power of the Chaos Emeralds failed, Knuckles found out who the bad guy really was (see "Knukcles Profile" for more info, up soon). Robotnik got back to his base and ordered an attack on Sonic's secret base. There was a gigantic badnik fight where Knuckles helped in and in the end, Sonic and Knuckles win, Sonic escapes Robotnik and Knuckles returns to his Island. Sonic and his friends then continue their fight against Robotnik, this time under the disguise of "Bob Beaky's Traveling Circus". However, Robotnik's Death Egg is still on the Floating Island and on issue 47, Sonic goes back there to deal with it, after meeting up with Knuckles, and a bit of pirate hassle, they get on their way. The Death Egg's repairs are complete and all that is needed now is the Master Emerald. Metallix reappears to hold off Sonic and Knuckles while the Master Emerald is taken to the Death Egg. Sonic makes it to the Death Egg and Knuckles to th e Emerald chamber. Sonic makes it to the Death Egg control center where Robotnik and Grimer are. Knuckles manages to use the Floating Island to shoot the Death Egg and Sonic takes the Emerald and breaks out and using a badnik jet pack, makes it to the Floating Island where the Emerald is returned in return for Knuckles giving the Emerald Hill folk refuge from Robotnik. Sonic continued to fight with the Freedom Fighters but things got serious again when it the Metallix were back, in their thousands. They had kidnapped Grimer and used him to create a device to turn Mirical Planet into an infinite power source for them Sonic and his team stopped them but not fully. Mirical Island disappeared for a month. and before it reappears, Robotnik creates a second in command badnik with a copy of his brain scans named "Brutus". Sonic only stops him by going Super forces him to retreat. When Mirical Planet came back, it was covered with metal, Sonic teamed up with Chatoix to stop them which resulted in travelling back in time to Sonic and Robotnik's origins. Metallix gone back in time using a pirate version of the Omni-Viewer and had erased Robotnik to stop him from inventing their self destruct system, (Grimer invented the rest). Sonic found out that in order to save Mobius, he would have to recreate Mobius' worst, evil dictator. Going back to the Future, Sonic was just able to use the system to destroy all the Metallixs. Brutus is also dealt with. Brutus, having too much of Dr. Robotniks ambition, makes badniks and rebels against Robotnik. But Robotnik gets on battle armour and destroys Brutus using a weapon on the armour he had mad after Brutus had been given Robotnik's brain scan. Things go pretty much back to normal until issue 80 where Sonic falls the Emerald chamber's Emrald holding beam. Going Super more then ever before due to way too much Chaos Energy and when Super wanting, as always, to cause the only way the Freedom Fighters can stop him is to transfer the Chaos Energy into the Special Zone using a Starpost. This caused Sonic and Super Sonic to be seperated. Sonic soon goes over to the Special Zone with the Omni-Viewer's help to warn Chatoix that Super Sonic exists in their dimension. To Sonic's suprise, he finds out that the Special Zone is a whole new universe with cities and worlds and only a part of it was to a weird nonsensical plane. Sonic follows Chatoix to New Tek City and gets arrested. He is bailed out by Lord Sidewinder, the leader of the evil Sidewinder gang. Lord Sindwinder brings Sonic to his home where Super Sonic enters. Sindwinder believed that he had made an arangement with Super Sonic but he is wrong and all Super Sonic wants to do is cause complete destruction starting with killing Sonic and the Sindwinder Gang. The Sidewinder Gang and Sonic try to fight Super Sonic, and even Chatoix join in but it's hopless. As a last resort, Sonic knocks Super Sonic into the Omni-Viewer who immediately stops Super Sonic by freezing them both in time. Super Sonic is stopped but with the Omni-Viewer out of action, Sonic is stuck in the Special Zone. Sonic and Chotoix realise that Super Sonic will break out of the Omni-Viewer soon so they put the Omni-Viewer in the center of an astroid and leave him there. Sonic has to put up with weird Special Zone stuff, for ages until suddenly, another Sun appears in the Sky. SuperSonic had somehow escaped the Omni-Viewer and was building a massive amount of energy to blow up the asteroid which was now glowing yellow hot. In a brilliant brainwave, Sonic gets the Omni-Viewer to transport the entire asteroid to Mobius. Sonic and Chatoix follow. The asteroid explodes with Super Sonic's energy but he Electro Magnetic Pulse created covers the whole of Mobius, taking out every single electric appliance or machine in the whole of Mobius. And seing that Robotnik owned most of these things, in seconds, his whole empire came crashing down. Super Sonic escapes but the power he used to make the explosion stopped him from storing his power. Super Sonic loses all his power and becomes dased and confused, ending up having an old grannie taking care of him. Meanwhile, the Mobius got to work in ridding mobius of Robotnik. Robotnik escapes but now, for the first time in years, Mobius is free, the overthrow take place on STC100. After taking care of a few things, Sonic gets read to welcome the Emerald Hill folk back to Emerald Hill. Suddenly things get strange, on Tail's advice, Sonic sets off to Flickys Island and finds Robotnik making badniks out of Flickys, capturing them from another dimension using a strange ring. Suddenly, an alien being comes from the other dimension by the ring. He discovers that Robotnik was the one who discovered to use the ring and so takes him back to his dimension. Sonic and Tails are left in Flicky's Island. But Robotnik comes back, now controlling the ring, he appears in Emerald Hill Zone and takes Sonic from his base back to the other dimension Tails follows. In this dimension, the place is ruled by the Drakon Empire, Robotnik convinced Emperor that Sonic is a criminal who is against them. (boy, Robotnik sure has a gift for doing this sort of thing). Sonic is trialed by combat, against an new metalix, this time based on Knuckles. Sonic is not strong enough but Tails steps in and destroys the metalix by shuting the main arena door on him. Despite being helped, Sonic still beat Metallix so is pronounced not guilty by the Dracon Empire and allowed to return home. But on issue123, the Drakon Empire invade the Floation Island for the Chaos Emeralds. It turns out that Grimer who had left Robotnik and joined the Darkon Empire had given the Empire the information on the Chaos Emeralds. The invasion is great and they reach the Emerald Chamber, but as they take the Master Emerald, Grimer betrays them and makes them fade away. He transports Robotnik to the chamber who absorbs the Chaos Emerald energy but instead of becoming a God, he takes too much energy and turns into crystal. But this is only a temperory setback and when Robotnik changes back, he becomes a God and changes the History of Mobius to what it would have been like if Sonic had never existed. Through great trouble, Sonic eventually reaches the Emerald Chamber and uses the Grey Emerald to take the energy from Robotnik causing him to shrink off the face of Mobius. Grimer is arrested. Sonic gets onto other things like finding out that Jonney Lightfoot had been replaced by a traitor and Sonic also returns to the Special Zone and once again team up with Chatoix to bring down an evil mind controller called Root. He even gets transported to planet Earth and when some unfriendly humans try to invade Mobius. But Grimer had escaped the prison and was now trying to bring Robotnik back. He breaks into the Floating Island Emerald Chamber and with Knack the Weasle, he shrinks down into another Universe where Robotnik had gone when he had shrunk down. Sonic follows and finds himslef in an Arabian style city called Shanazar. Sonic find Nack and Grimer who are waiting to meet Robotnik but it turns out that Robotnik somehow changed back to Kintobor who keeps Nack and Grimer locked up. This dosn't last and on a mission in the dessert, Kintobor changes into Robotnik again and Sonic leaves him. Robotnik manages to become friend with the fat princess, ruler of Shanazar and turning the princess against Sonic, they send a gang called Death Trap to get him. Avoiding them by leaving the city, Sonic meets a destructive race, the Plax, and many other nasty people. That's before Amy manages to get transported to where Sonic is. The two go on more adventures until Sonic realises that they should be back in Shanazar where Robotnik is. Going there, they find out Robotnik's scheme to merge the world Sonic is in and Mobius into one planet. Sonic trys to stop him but fails and the the world they are in grows to the size of Mobius and merges with Mobius, giving Mobius new zones and even access to planet Earth. Robotnik runs away with Grimer. Sonic starts investigating these new zones yet mysteriously, Amy becomes Sonic's companion instead of Tails. Things go wrong when Mobius' entire Ecosystem starts to collapse so Sonic, Amy, Techno and Shortfuse the Cybernik, go to stop it. It turns out that a machine is draining the life out of Earth as well but Sonic and team stop it. They find out where Robotnik is but the Plax have teamed up with him. But Robotnik has absorbed enough of the life which he took out of Mobius to give him enough power to destroy the Plax in betrayle. Robotnik then uses his power to try to destroy the Freedom Fighters. All seems lost but Shortfuse hooks himself up with the machinery Robotnik was using and reverses the machinery, giving the life back to where it belongs and in the process, freeing himself from his armour. Sonic and team escape and Mobius is returned to normal. Things start to get interesting as Sonic hears about a strange water creature attacking Metropolis Zone. The team get there to find that the monster but when trying to attack it, the are overcome by fear that the monster radiates, Sonic spin attacks trying not to think about the fear and gets trapped in the monster, when he comes out, he finds out that his eyes have turned green. Meanwhile, Porker Lewis comes on the scene to bring equipment to help destroy Chaos, Chaos returns but the device that is meant to destroy Chaos dosn't work because of a broken cable, braving the fear effect, Jonney Lightfoot goes and manages to fix the cable just as Chaos hits him hard. The equipment now works and Porker throws the switch to destroy Chaos. But at a price, the blow that had gone to Jonney was serious, and it killed him. Horrified, Sonic quits the Freedom Fighters and at a bad time. Chaos reappears on the Floating Island to absorb the Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles has no choice but to eject the Emeralds and Chaos leaves. Amy and Tails arrive just in time to take Knuckles away before the Floating Island disappears into the sea without a trace. On landing, they wonder what to do and as if in answer, Sonic shows up, back for good. Back in the base, Sonic sees a strange pink gow which suddenly forms into an echidna girl. She transports Sonic into the Ancient past and after escaping from a stamped, Sonic meets the other members of her tribe, which include Knuckles, who has now memeor of Sonic. Before things can be talked out, a ship of the people who keep invading the Echidna Tribe turn up and out of the ship comes, an Drakon Persecutor! Knowing their weakness, Sonic bursts off the persecutor's helmet revealing the Drakon person to be just a fish wired up to a robot. Back in Sonic's time, Robotnik is attracting the Emeralds with his machine to lure Chaos to his fortress. In ancient times, Sonic discuss with Knuckles how Knuckles could still be alive in the distant future and not remember his past life, maybe suspended animation? But Tikal interrupts to take Sonic to her father where he is shown the Chaos Emeralds. He is told that the Emerald come from the Darkon empire who had used the Emeralds to store the previously unstable Chaos energy. But the Drakon Empire suddenly attack, the fish they caught is brought in a tank of water. But in the invasion, a shot hits an emerald. A huge explosion happens which everyone just escapes but the fish is still inside and when Sonic looks into the room, he sees Chaos, Sonic, finding out how Chaos originated, races forward in an attack but once again gets trapped in Chaos. Tikal has no option but to send him back to the future (nope, no Michael J Fox!). The energy used in doing this comes from the emeralds Chaos is using to power himself, giving the Echidnas a chance to fight back. The war between Echidnas and the Drakons continues. Meanwhile, in another time, Sonic and his friends launch a last resort attack on Robotnik's fortress, just as Chaos appears. Its then that Sonic returns to the present, but Chaos still takes the last remaining Emeralds that Robotnik collected. It seems hopless until Super Sonic suddenly turns up. Super Sonic had been working in a café, employed by Ebony, a magic cat, as the evil in him had gone when his power. Now, however, the chaos energy that Super Sonic needed to survive, was ebbing and in order to save himself, he throws himself into the creature. He absorbs all Chaos' energy, reducing him to the fish he started out as and throws him into a pond, with Alligators. But now with Chaos Energy, Super Sonic becomes highly destructive and becomes filled with the desire to kill everyone. Grimer, infuriated at Robotnik for doing all this without a plan, quits after his years of service. As a last ditch to save the situation, Sonic struggles with Super Sonic and on his command, Ebony casts a spell that merges the two of them back together. Now, things are as they were in the beginning. Sonic now realising that if things get hectic, he will turn back into Super Sonic. But they know that they can handle it, they always do. And so ends the last original comic strip ever published in Egmont Fleetways' Sonic the Comic. | |
