Since we chartered as a Toastmasters Club with Toastmasters
International in 2005 our club, The Galtees
Toastmasters, has gone from strength to strength. However this did not happen by
accident. Our two immediate past Presidents, Tony O'Regan (2005) and Margaret O'Regan
(2006) were an excellent example of what Toastmasters is all about. They gave life to the
ethos of the four founding members which was that The Galtees' Toastmasters should
continue to be a vibrant, congenial and friendly club where people are given the
opportunity to gain confidence as a speaker...after all this was the very reason we joined
in the first place!
In the Toastmaster Season 2006/'07, I look forward to
continuing to ensure that The Galtees Toastmasters
is a vibrant, congenial and friendly club. Visitors, be they members of other toastmasters
clubs or non toastmasters, are more than welcome to attend meetings which are held
alternate Tuesdays in the Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown at 8.10pm. There is no obligation
on visitors to speak at meetings but if they wish to do so they will be given the
opportunity. They will be assured of a pleasant evening, good company in a jovial and
stimulating environment.
Whilst retaining current members and retaining the easy
atmosphere the club has, another aim for the year is to increase membership. New members
keep a club energetic and imbues a sense of satisfaction on members knowing they have
helped people develop their confidence and talents.
The word "Galtee" is a strong brand name and
synonymous with Mitchelstown. It now has one
more accolade, Toastmasters. Come see for yourself if it lives up to its title.
