Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How old should my dog be at his/her
first grooming session?
A: Basically you can bring you dog in for grooming, once it has had
all vaccinations up to date, the earlier a puppy starts to get
professionally groomed the better, as they will get used to the
process and enjoy its trip to the groomers
Q: What does a grooming session consist
of?
A:Your dog will be assessed to see what is needed to get it into tip
top condition, and up to kennel club bred standard. First you dog
will be groomed and de-matted if necessary, then its off to the bath
for a nice bubbly bath with shampoo suitable for your dogs type of
coat. then its back to the grooming table for styling, clipping if
necessary and the final touches, including cologne and a bow if you wish.
Q: What if my dog has fleas?
A: If you dog has fleas, it will be treated with flea shampoo, it is
recommended that you then contact your veterinary surgeon for a flea
treatment which will last a longer time, a flea bath will only kill
the fleas on your dog at that time, so you need to get another
form of prevention which your vet can provide or recommend.
Q: Do you sedate dogs?
A:The answer is simply no, I do not sedate any dogs in my care, if
you have a dog that is nervous, which you wish to get groomed,
usually time and patience is all that is required to help them get
used to grooming sessions.
Q: Do you muzzle dogs?
A: I will only muzzle a dog if it is a risk to staff or itself, dogs
that have a tendency to bite will be charged at a higher rate as it
usually takes extra staff for safe grooming
Q: Do I groom Puppies and Elderly dogs?
A: Yes, I groom Puppies and Elderly dogs, they need extra special
attention, time and plenty of tender loving care.
Q: What happens if my dog gets very
upset, while being groomed?
A:If your dog is not used to being groomed in a salon, I will give your
dog plenty of time to settle in, take extra time grooming and drying
etc. If your dog is of a nervous disposition and finds the situation
extremely stressful, you will then be contacted and the grooming
session will come to an end, this is for the dogs comfort. But
thankfully this has never happened me to date.
Q: Is it possible to get my dogs hair
coloured?
A: Yes, I can colour your dogs hair if you wish. A tester patch will
have to be done at least 24 hours before you dog is brought in for
colouring, just to make sure they do not react to the colour. There
is an extra charge for this service.
