A
Little bit of History
A
pontoon barge, built by Jack O'Sullivan of Bere Island, 9 years ago has
brought necessary supplies of cement and building materials into the island
thus giving it an injection needed when the island's future was in doubt.
He has also developed a new fishing venture ABILONE fishing, which is
a labour intensive venture employing a number of the younger generation,
which is really a vital necessity.
Upwards of 14 houses have been built since
then, a fine achievement and an example for other islands to imitate.
A fine Hall built by the Community features summer dancing ceilidhe together
with Bingo in the winter months.
