Saint Mary's
G.A.A Club held their 'RACE NIGHT' on Sunday Night October 26th in the
Shebeen Bar, Cahersiveen. A Great night was had by all with a total of 130
horses running. Tote betting was provided for all 13 races. The feature race,
the final race, which was the 13th race of the night, the Forever Blue Auction Race worth
€300 to the winner was won by the 'Marina Lad' , Owned by Sammy O'Sullivan, trained by Riverview
and ridden by Donal Casur. In second place came Put Ball Field, Owned by
the the Put Ball Field Syndicate
and in third came the Super Striker, Owned by the Super Striker
Syndicate.
Saint Mary's G.A.A Club wish to express their thanks to former St. Mary's
stalwart Michael (Miley) O'Connell who sold lines in New York - U.S.A and also
to Paul O'Connell who sold lines in London. We would also like to thank local
sellers Ml. Daly, Christy O'Connell, Ger Horgan, Johnny Walsh, Austin
Constable, Mark O'Shea, John Golden, Thomas Keane, Sean Sheehan, Padraig
Donovan, the Sponsors of the Races, the Owners who bought horses, other Sellers who sold the horses and all others who helped to make the night a
tremendous success. The Club would also like to thank Philip and Maureen
O'Sullivan of the Shebeen Bar for use of the premises on the night. Finally,
we express many thanks to Mossie Coffey for organising the event and to his
Race Committee Tony McCarthy, John Sugrue, Tony Horgan, Connie O'Connor, Batt
