15 man panel St Mary's beat all the odds when they achieved their first win of the season against Renard's panel of 31 men. St. Mary's got off to a shaky start when the excellent kicking of John Sugrue prove the better but this excellent kicking soon wore off and the Mary's took advantage of the situation when St. Mary's hit scores from Gearoid Constable, Austin Constable and James Fitzgerald but the score to put the Mary's noses ahead came from full forward James Fitzgerald when he scored a well taken goal this left the score at half time at 1-4 to 0-3. The second half was the same for both sides when both teams hit score for score to end the game on a score line of 1-8 to 0-6. This victory was only possible with very special efforts put in by Austin Constable, James Fitzgerald and Seamus Fitzgerald.
