Clann na nGael GAA Club A.G.M.    8th November, 2009

The club will hold it’s A.G.M on Sunday 8th of November at 2.30pm in Drinagh Parish Hall. There will be a lot of items on the agenda, so this is your chance to have some input into the 2010 season. Everyone is invited to attend.


Clann na nGael GAA Club Shop    7th November, 2009

The club shop will be open on Saturday 7th of November from 10.30am to 1.30pm in the club dressing rooms. There is a large selection to choose from and orders are now being taken for Christmas.


Clann na nGael GAA Minor Ladies West Cork Champions    October, 2009

Congratulations to the Minor girls who captured the West Cork Title last week with a superb display against the Dohenys under lights in Augahville. Well done to all involved.

Clann na nGael GAA Club Scorcher 300 Prize Draw '09/'10    May, 2009

It is that time of year again, when Clann na nGael GAA proudly launch their Scorcher 300 Prize Draw for 2009/10. Over the next 12 months we will give away €6,000 worth of cash prizes. The draw is confined to 300 members only and will consist of 12 monthly draws. Each draw will take place on the last weekend of every month.

This year, in addition to the monthly draws, we have included a new innovative cash game, called the SCORCHER Bonus Ball, based on the weekly Saturday night national lottery Lotto draw with match 3 & 4 jackpot for the winners.

Our fundraisers in the past have allowed us to further develop our facilities. We would like to thank all those who supported us in 2008 and we look forward to your continued support in 2009. Tickets are now available from any club officer.

Clann na nGael GAA Monthly Newsletter is now available.

A new monthly email will be distributed to all Scorchers at home and abroad. The email will contain details of what is happening in the club along with match reports and photographs.

Clann na nGael GAA Club Meeting    3rd of March, 2009

Clann na nGael GAA club will hold a club meeting on Tuesday 3rd of March at 9.00pm in Drimoleague Parish Hall. Following the meeting between the 08 Cork hurling panel and club chairman last Sunday night, the two motions which they have asked clubs to vote on will be on the agenda. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Clann na nGael will hold a Dinner/Social on Saturday the 7th of March in The Westlodge Hotel Bantry


Clann na nGael Under Age Juvenile Club registration night       February, 2009

Clann na nGael Under Age Juvenile Club will hold a registration night on Monday 23rd of February 2009 at 7.30pm in Drimoleague Parish Hall and Tuesday the 24th of February 2009 at 7.30pm in Drinagh Parish Hall. Any one interested in playing football from U-8 to U-16 level are invited to attend. 


Clann na nGael Ladies Football     February, 2009

Clann na nGael ladies will be starting their season very shortly. If there are still girls out there that want to play ladies football from U-10 upwards, in particular any girls at U-12 level, please contact Martina Burns on 086 0715951 or any club member.

Clann na nGael Ladies Club Registration Night    20th of January 2009
Clann na nGael Ladies Club will hold a registration night on Tuesday the 20th of January 2009 in Drimoleague Parish Hall at 7.30pm.

Special guest on the night will be senior Cork player Laura McMahon. Anyone interested in playing ladies football from U-12 to Minor level is invited to attend.

Clann na nGael will hold a Table Quiz in The Drimoleague Inn on Monday, 29th December at 8.00pm. Your support would be greatly appreciated.



Buckley Financial Team of the Month Award    14th of November, 2008

The Minor Footballers have been honoured with the Buckley Financial team of the month for October. They are joint recipients of the award along with the Minors of O' Donovan Rossa. A presentation will be made on Friday night in the Drimoleague Inn at 9.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

Clann na nGael Cúl Camp  Registration Night    11th of May, 2008

Following the success of last year’s Cúl Camp, it has been decided to host a camp again this year.

A registration night will be held in Drimoleague Parish Hall on Sunday 11th of May between 7pm and 8pm for anyone interested in attending the camp this year.

The camp will take place on Monday the 28th of July to Friday 1st of August inclusive. It is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14. The cost of the camp is €55 for first child, €45 for second child and €35 for third child. Please note, as places are limited, the registration fee is payable in full on the night.

Clann na nGael launch Scorcher 300 Draw.    9th of April, 2008

Clann na nGael GAA Club officially launched their new members only monthly draw, Scorcher 300 last Wednesday night. Over the next 12 months they will give away €6,000 worth of cash prizes. Clann na nGael GAA Club annual Dinner Dance    26th of January, 2008

Clann na nGael GAA Club will hold its annual Dinner Dance in the Westlodge Hotel, Bantry on Saturday the 26th of January.

Clann na nGael Ladies Club Registration Evening   21st of January, 2008

Clann na nGael Ladies Club will hold a Registration evening for U-12’s, U-14’s and U-16’s in the Parish Hall Drimoleague on Monday 21st January at 7.45pm.

Special guest on the night will be Cork Ladies All-Star Briege Corkery.


The official VHI Cúl Camp in Drimoleague   13th - 17th of August, 2007

Clann na nGael hosted their first ever VHI Cúl Camp last week and it proved to be a tremendous success, despite the weather. The 65 children that took part had a great week.
There was great excitement on Thursday when the kids got a surprise visit from Cork players Michael Shields and Daniel Goulding. They stayed for close to an hour singing autographs and taking photographs. A Big thanks to Michael and Daniel for travelling down to Drimoleague and we would like to wish them the best of luck in the All- Ireland Football Final in September.
A further thanks to the instructors of the Cúl Camps and the 20 or so volunteers that supervised the week. The club would also like to thank Collins Centra Drimoleague for the sponsorship of drinks for the week. Thanks also to Aidan Shannon, for organising the event so well.


The official VHI Cúl Camp in Drimoleague   13th - 17th of August, 2007

Children that have enrolled in the VHI Cúl Camps, are asked to come to the Village Hall on this coming Friday Evening, 10th of August at 8.30pm to collect their entrance pass to the camp together with their Cúl Camp packs.


West Cork, County & Munster Junior B cups   16th of June, 2007

The West Cork, County & Munster Junior B cups along with the League Shield will be on display this coming Saturday,16th June upstairs in the Old Mill at Collins Centra. For anyone interested in getting some photographs with the cups, local photographer, Ann O' Sullivan will be present from 10.00am to 1.00pm, to cater for all your photographic needs.

The Clann na nGael underage club will

At a function in the Munster Arms Hotel on Friday night, the junior footballers received the Bandon Opinion / First Active Team Of the Year award. They were co-recipients of this award together with the Dohenys junior B hurlers. Secretary Vin Forbes accepted the award on behalf of the team from guest of honour, Cork Footballer James Masters.


Under 8 and Under 10 Training  April 6th, 2007

Under 8 and Under 10 Training will commence on Friday night the 6th April from 7pm to 8pm in Drimoleague Pitch. All kids are asked to bring the new Go football to training.


Munster Junior B football final   March, 2007

All roads lead to Limerick this weekend, where Clann na nGael will contest the Munster Junior B football final. It will be a historic occasion for the club, who have never contested a Munster final at any level before. The Scorchers earned their place in this final by beating Moyvane from Kerry in the semi-final. Their opponents on the day will be the host club, Knockaderry, who overcame Wolfe Tones from Clare in the other semi-final.

The game will be played on Sunday the 18th March, in Knockaderry, Co. Limerick, which is approx. five miles from Newcastlewest. Throw in 3.00 pm. The game will be preceded by an exhibition game between the under-12’s of both clubs.The best wishes of the whole parish go with them. Scorchers Ábu.


Under Age - Registration Night   March, 2007

An informal information and registration night will be held in Drinagh Hall on Thursday 1st March at 7.30pm and in Drimoleague Hall on Monday 5th March at 7.00pm. Anyone interested in playing football at U-8, U-10 and U-12 levels are invited to attend.


Munster Junior B football semi-final   Febuary, 2007

On this coming Sunday, February the 25th, Clann na nGael will travel to Knockaderry, Co. Limerick to contest the Munster Junior B football semi-final. It will be a historic occasion for the club, who have never contested a Munster championship at any level before.

Their opponents on the day will be Moyvane from Co. Kerry, who won the Kerry championship by beating Na Gaeil from Tralee in October 2006 by 2-13 to 1-09.

The game will be played in Knockaderry, Co. Limerick, which is approx 5 miles from Newcastlewest. Throw in is at 2.00pm. Scorchers Ábu.
