21/03/01  Carrick Swan Notes

Activities are set to recommence on the playing fields over the coming weeks all teams are reminded that attendance at all training sessions is now vitally important.

Our u-12, u-16 and u-21 footballers will be the first teams into Championship action when they commence their programme of games next week. We wish all concerned the best of luck.

Our u-14 hurlers will play their floodlit ground hurling semi-final on Friday night next in Loreto Convent, Clonmel where they will line out againgt Arravale Rovers, Tipperary.

Our club now has an Internet Website which can be viewed at tipperary.gaa.ie and selecting Carrick Swan from the CLUBS menu. This page should be of particular interest to those living outside the town and indeed outside the country. At present we are running a quiz on our page so log on and test your knowledge.

At this time of the year with many of our teams starting their years activities and with many new teams taking part this year with the commencement of camogie activities, our club is most grateful to those who offer sponsorship or financial help. We very much appreciate your help.

We again remind all adult and juvenile players and all non-playing members of our club that the annual membership subscription should be paid immediately.

06/03/01  Carrick Swan Notes

All scheduled matches for last weekend were postponed for obvious reasons and the outcome for the coming weeks is not clear.  We do however encourage all our players, both adult and juvenile, to attend all organised training sessions as Championship fixtures are only weeks away now for a number of teams.  Numbers attending our indoor juvenile hurling and camogie coaching sessions continue to be encouraging with all those taking part enjoying the activities.  We remind all juveniles that annual membership of £2 should be paid immediately.  This also applies to Seniors, £10, and Minors, £5.  Non-playing members of our club are also requested to submit their membership subscriptions now.

A large gathering of players and supporters came together on Saturday evening last at a function organised to make a presentation to former club trainer Bernard (Pinkie) O' Neill.  Pinkie has been involved with numerous Swan teams down through the years both as trainer and physio and we thank him for his dedicated effort to help our club.  We thank the organisers of the event and all those who attended.
