A week in the Haute Alps - By Henry Whelan - More pics of Kevin

Is this an IVCA age record for Alpe d'Huez?

Some of the younger members took a week in the Haute Alps recently. One memeber, Kevin Simms, seventy and half years old rode up Alp d'Huez on the Sunday in a time of 1 hour 30 minutes. He had his time card signed by the local tourist official as he could not find the clock. So when the rest of the group struggled up a long time after him, we clocked our cards on the official timepiece. All of us smartarses said he had signed it himself. So what did Kevin do the next day? He left the apartment with a witness, Larry Williams, and rode up the mountain again. This ride was timed on the official clock at 1 hour 20 minutes.
