Black Holes (like my bank account J)

A black hole, as the name suggests, is a hole in space that does not emit light.
Black holes are formed when a star collapses in on itself due to extreme
gravity. The gravity is so strong near a black hole that not even light can
escape, which is why they are black. When a star collapses under its own
gravity, it shrinks to a single point of infinite density. This point is surrounded
by a shield or curtain called the event horizon. The event horizon is the
boundary between the black hole and normal space. Any object that crosses
this boundary will be ripped apart and compressed to a point of infinite density
in the centre. You could say that the event horizon is like the entrance to hell
described by the poet Dante,
"All hope abandon, ye who enter here".
Using a black hole for time travel would be difficult as you would need a ship
capable of travelling faster than light speed. To travel into the future you would
have to find a black hole in space. Next you would have to travel across the
event horizon which would cause the ship to travel into the future. This is
because of the extreme gravity bending time near the black hole. So in effect
you are taking a shortcut through time. Unfortunately this is a one way trip as
the escape velocity of a black hole is slightly less than the speed of light.
If you have a theory, comment or idea for time travel, feel free to submit it and you can have it posted on this page.
